Any suggestion on places which are not crowded and one can chill out.

I understand your concern - Baga Beach and Calungate Beach are really crowded and incredibly dirty to say the least. You may wanna check out the following beaches if you need some Privacy or Peace

  • Palolem Beach - Probably my favourite beach in Goa, not many Indian tourists flock here since it's fairly far from the Airport, Railway Station or even Panjim. Clean white sand and some really quality shacks in this area and it's full of foreign tourists.

  • Bogmalo Beach - This one's really close by to the airport (About 5 mins). Good beach and some pretty shacks as well. [Close to my heart, it was just 5 mins away from my college in Goa - this beach was almost like my 2nd home. :D]

  • Arambol Beach - Another Good beach almost unknown to the Indian Tourist Junta but flocked by the Foreign Tourists. A nice place to chill, and some good areas to trek as well (if you're into that kind of thing). Has a pretty decent pond/lake about 30 m from the beach which is great for a swim.

  • Morjim Beach - Also called the Russian Nude Beach but never really saw anyone nude there. Decent Secluded Beach.

ummm what else? There is gokarting track in Madgaon which is great. There are two waterfalls nearby Goa you may wanna check out - Dandeli and Doodhsagar [Both are comparatively crowded]. There is this Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary as well in Goa (known for elephants) if you're into all that.

Hey dude, thanks for details. planning to go to Morjim beach tomorrow. yesterday met one DJ Darko guy who would be playing on new year at one of club there. he invited me for that. i just told him not to forget my name.

One of my friend who is from goa lives near kolva and I guess palolm beach is close to that area. ould surely go there. thanks again :)

Smoking?

I was in Goa last new year. You will get ripped off.

Get a good massage (not the shady kind) and eat some good desserts at Britto's or Infantria

[–]triliana♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ 1 point2 points ago

Second the massage. That was amazing stuff.

[–]delhiboy[S] 0 points1 point ago

yea taking full body massage for last two days and both time i had to bargain hard. And had to remind them how they are ripping of one of his countrymen,

Some people can't handle the truth.
Or they probably don't like partying or having sex.

any big city where everyone just to take money out of you

This is korrect. However, things start looking better once you drink enough beer. Eat seafood? Fuck the places where tourists go. Look where the locals go to eat (and drink). Go to Panjim. Navigate to Viva Panjim and eat excellent Goan fish and pork dishes. Vegetarian? Drink beer.

[–]delhiboy[S] 0 points1 point ago

yes sir i tried that today (eating with locals). Thanks for reminding me about beer :).

[–]lemongrass01 1 point2 points ago

There are lot of beaches in South Goa which are less crowded than the famous beaches in north. Dont go to shacks and places near Beaches to eat, there are expensive like hell. You can find lot of road side hotels or panaji where you get good sea-foods.Also chapora fort, where DCH was shot. Not much people go there but this place is a really awesome with a small hillock overlooking a beach.

[–]delhiboy[S] 0 points1 point ago

Yes dude would visit that. thanks

[–]diamondjim 1 point2 points ago

On our last trip to Goa, we rented a bike and took a trip inland. Fuck the beaches. The sand gets in my ass and chafes my skin. A die-hard motorcyclist will enjoy the tarmac without a destination. If you still feel the need to have some end location, there are many options. Google is your friend.

[–]motionless_albatross 1 point2 points ago

Listen to him, OP. Just rent a bike and travel inland/south. There are many beautiful estuaries with awesome views of western ghats. Smoke a joint if you are into it.

[–]delhiboy[S] 1 point2 points ago

Bike renting is costing fortune here. Would definitely visit those place on some other trip.

[–]xequalsy 0 points1 point ago

Drive south to Palolem. It's cleaner, quieter. In Panjim, Margao, eat the sea food rice plate/Thali at the places where locals eat. I know you said other than drinking but kings!

[–]delhiboy[S] 0 points1 point ago

I droved there last time I was there. and I also love old goa architecture.

[–]itssynecdoche 1 point2 points ago

No said sex on the beach?

[–]delhiboy[S] 0 points1 point ago

emm I saw an Indian couple most probably recently married doing all sort of things at most crowded place beach in goa.

[–]itssynecdoche 0 points1 point ago

Why am I not surprised? Suppressed sexual feelings for Indians are bound to show up at all the places away from home.

[–]marywwriter 0 points1 point ago*

I stayed at Presa di Goa (Nagoa) last month and totally relaxed for three days. http://www.presadigoa.com/index.html Fantastic food, a private pool and quite reasonable. The taxi drivers told me there are two Goas -- and I found that to be true: the waterfront areas are harsh, and we stayed away from them. The churches in Old Goa are really interesting to tour and would probably be even more interesting at this time of year.

[–]adisesha 1 point2 points ago

Saturday Night Market at Arpora. Food is expensive but it's worth trying foreign delicacies(Belgian waffles, Burrito etc). There will be organized dance and shows from different cultures which are good. You got the info on beaches from others. If your visiting just before start of the season(say October), the crowd usually 90% less when compared to other beaches.

[–]delhiboy[S] 0 points1 point ago

Was there last time. It was a good experience.

[–]clayalien 0 points1 point ago

Hey, I'm an Irish guy who will be in Goa soon. I was supposed to fly out tonight, but due to a mix up with the Visa office I've had to postpone my flights 2 days :(

But I'm there until the 20th, let me know if you want to meet up and chill out, I'd be interested in finding things to do that don't involve booze or other drugs.

[–]delhiboy[S] 0 points1 point ago

yea sure will be here till 2nd of January. lets catch up.

[–]clayalien 0 points1 point ago*

Hey, sorry, was busy sorting things out. I land in Goa on the 1st now, although I'm debating coughing up the £150 for an internal flight and be with my friends for new years. I'll be staying on arambol beach. I'm pale, about 5:10-11 ish and I have long bright ginger hair. I'm fairly sure I'm going to stand out quite a bit.

EDIT: Found a flight from Bangalore to Goa for 4k INR (about £50). Figured it was worth it to be with my friends on new years eve than spending nearly that on hostels and buses just so I can be on my own in Bangalore. I land Goa airport at 8am on the 31st. Also, it was Anjuna beach, not Arambol

[–]derphighbury 0 points1 point ago

Come to Anjuna tomorrow, Cliff Edge, if you love darkpsy and raving.

I'll be performing for this 3 day madness. :p :p

But otherwise, honestly speaking, Goa has lost it's charm over the past few years. The sort of people that come for that Shitburn festival have raped the whole new year partying vibe of Goa which used to be so beautiful and happy.

[–]delhiboy[S] 1 point2 points ago

Yea sure would come. if you tell me your name would buy a drink too :)

[–]ziggrat 0 points1 point ago

Colva beach is not too bad. Benaulim and Colva were the two places i enjoyed being this November
