TROPHY CASE

Cherry I started from seedling last year, new growth this season just started and the leaves are already browning... advice? by 1forthemoneyin Bonsai

[–]1forthemoney[S] 0 points1 point ago

I dont have a yard unfortunately, I am living in an apartment building.

So you think more moisture would help with the problem? I am certainly confused as to the right path, some of the opinions are that it is being over watered. I am trying to prod into the soil a bit to feel for moisture before watering, and laying back a little. Not sure if things will get better.

Yea, the cherry had to cold stratify for a while actually.. I think it was 5 months or so, and only 1/4 of the seeds germinated.

Oh, so you think it is too much water? Shit.. and I just watered them thinking they were getting too much sunlight and dried out. The temps here have gone from 40's/50's out to 70's/80's and my apartment is considerably hotter.

I have such a hard time telling though... too much vs too little water. Do you have any tips. I feel like it is one or the other and I am always guessing.

We don't know how old this stuff is or if it is actually from his stash. He is long dead, so we are not even sure where it came from.

Thank you, and thank you for the help. That looks very nice, I am going to try printing some of the shops on here and see how it goes. I may do what you are saying and get a smaller size and do more of a wallet/locket type thing.

That looks very nice actually, it being lighter may help with more positive memories as well.

I know, I don't have an original though and neither does she... plus I am trying to make this more of a surprise for her.

Thank you. As a seed starter I have found that most books lack in the seedling department. This is great.

AWESOME advice thank you! I never thought about the molding at night, I will water in the morning from now on, and more sparingly until I can learn the soil better.

This is from volunteer work in a developing nation in Asia.

A man had gotten a circumcision at age 70 to help with infection and cleanliness issues he was having. It was botched and the stitches tore off. The surgeon had nicked the two Dorsal Arteries of the Penis which are surprisingly superficial. The result was blood shooting 4-6ft out of this man's johnson and us scrambling to stop it. He ended up with 5 forceps, which are just surgical clamps, attached to various points of his penis and we decided that amputation was the best course (for various reasons). My penis was empathetically cringing the entire time at the sight of the 5 metal clamps.

Did you check out the link to the soil I am using? I don't have the bag now but I thought it was inorganic, all grit, soil.. and yes I have been watering nightly. I will stop that immediately and see how things go. They have very very little fertilizer in there and I have been keeping them in the direct sunlight but will pull them back a skooch just to keep them from getting too hot. I only get afternoon sun in my apartment unfortunately. Thank you for your advice, please check out the soil and let me know what you think. I am a beginner and the soil has been a big point of contention for me, I honestly had no idea what to get. I will stop watering though, that seems to be the consensus. Thank you so much again!

Yea it is a very loose soil that drains well, so I water it all the time... is it really ok to let it dry through? I was afraid that with the heat of summer the plant would not take it so well. I will refrain from watering and see how that goes if you think that might help. But I am also going to pull it out of the direct sunlight so it isn't so intense as this happens.

I need some help with this one and I am really nervous. I had to cold stratify these seeds for 6 months and then got about 30% (3/10) to grow. They sprung up in April and have not grown any more leaves since, but they seem to have developed more roots and thickened up a bit (though they are very slow to do so). I have no real experience, am a complete novice, and really need some expert opinion.

The leaves are browning/scorched looking starting form their tips... some are around 50% dead now, they are indoors in a south and east facing window. It has been hot out, but I water them nightly and they are in this soil in this pot.

TIL blowing your nose after an eye injury will result in massive swelling by SarenAidin todayilearned

Medically Relevant-

Your ethmoid bone makes up your nose, most of it, between your eyes. The lateral part of the ethmoid bone, which is adjacent to the inside back of your eyeball, is thin and fragile. It is not a typical place to get injury as it would probably require huge eye damage or significant nose damage. That thin piece of bone is called the lamina papyracea and it is very easy to get blow out fractures there.
