Beware of painted lines, road markings, and manhole covers. They're all extremely slippery

When commuting between 7-9AM and 4-6PM. by 87broseidonin motorcycles

[–]Bawlsinhand 5 points6 points ago

It's only legal if done safely, which is up to the discretion of a motorcycle cop as he's most likely the only one to be able to catch up to you in commuter traffic.

I've been on a group ride in the mountains surrounding Los Angeles and on the way back we all followed a highway patrol motor filtering through some nasty freeway gridlock. It felt pretty cool getting a police escort.

This is some fucking BULLSHIT right here. F U Parking Enforcement. by lerdsuin LosAngeles

The article didn't say anything about dealing with handicapped placards differently. I would assume it would be unchanged and displaying a placard wouldn't result in a fine or needing to fill the meter.

When you first starting riding what was the most helpful tip or action that helped you learn? by spandarioin motorcycles

[–]Bawlsinhand 2 points3 points ago

Always remember to put the side stand up before leaving.

Relax and don't panic when stalling while trying to leave a light. Clutch in, restart the bike and don't get nervous and try and hurry out in a panic.

I've lived here for about a year. Is there a reason why old/rundown motor homes can park curb side and never get ticketed or towed? by prymein LosAngeles

[–]Bawlsinhand 3 points4 points ago

Report it before it's been parked there 72 hours. They'll record it's location, maybe chalk it, and then check it again after 72 hours.

Always check blind spots for other motorcycles before changing lanes. One dangerous situation I've yet to run into but could see it happening is taking off fast enough from a light with only minivans and sedans at the front and assuming you're out in front of all the traffic, except you failed to notice the other rider who filtered up and also took off with you.

Cagers, man... by kroatia04in motorcycles

[–]Bawlsinhand 1 point2 points ago

with there being a big gap in front of her to the next car, that would be where I'd like to sit. group of cars far in front and any being behind me I don't worry about since my acceleration is much faster and I like to stay at least a couple mph over the flow. In this situation the time to do the passing is when there were cars going in the opposite direction as she's more likely to see those than a motorcycle and wait for them to pass, as she did in this video. While passing on the left however, one potentially bad situation is if she lane changed at the same time, but in this case there's still the center divider which is plenty of space.

this is definitely true in LA. I'm never one to rag on someone for not ATGATT, but they are hands down the worst offenders and always have this look of being really tense and scared shitless.

IIRC the SR-71 Blackbird used celestial navigation to periodically re-calibrate it's inertial navigation system.
