Do you know of any printable "wash away" materials?

Video of Police Beating Protestors at NATO Summit Protest May 20, 2012 by Only_One_Tin occupywallstreet

The protesters went at the police, I think that's obvious in the video. However, there are ways to hold the line without swinging batons wildly.

Chicago Police drive van through crowd of protesters. by l30in videos

[–]Glorfon 1 point2 points ago

Why would the van go into the crowd!? Everyone here criticizing the protesters for not getting out of the way fast enough is overlooking the fact that the protesters were there initially and the van driver decided that the best way around was through. The van then continued to drive while people were right in front of it. It doesn't matter what a pedestrian does driving through a crowd of people like that isn't justifiable.

Given feasible technological advances, how would you alter yourself within the next 50-100 years. by Jamesx6in Transhuman

[–]Glorfon 1 point2 points ago

Sex is a big part of living for me. But it feels like a burdensome desire. If there was a good way to disable sex drive without consequence then the whole wold brain digitization seems like fun to me. I don't buy into the optimism about eternal biological youth. If it were possible that'd be great but I think our only shot at immortality is brain digitization.

The Ukrainian “Human Barbie Doll” - Valeria Lukyanova - is this the future of cosmetic enhancement? by nuktlin Transhuman

[–]Glorfon 0 points1 point ago

God, I hope not. I like short voluptuous women.

But that's not to say everyone should fit that look either. I think the diversity of tastes will prevent cosmetic enhancement from leading to any sort of body conformity.

I haven't used a 3D printer yet. I'm very confused about how an object can get wider without the plastic just dripping down. Are there limits to how quickly the width can increase?

Ok, that sort of makes sense.

I imagine some of the first people to use radical life extension might have survivors guilt when thinking about the previous generation.

We're only truly fucked if we accept that as our fate. I refuse to accept defeat so early.

That's already kind of happening. They're called hackerspaces and most cities have one. However their politics and communities vary so the nearest to you might not quite share your vision.

Get 1000 healthy enthusiastic people.

Build a City

???

Profit!

I'm halfway serious here. Think about how little real value added-work actually goes into our world. Especially if you cut out sweatshop labor of unnecessary crap. There is so much work that is done that is a waste an utter waste of time. Jobs that only exist because our scarcity based world demands that everyone work all the time even if they're just a unnecessary middleman.

So what I'm suggesting is a huge gathering of dedicated workers building a city based on technocratic efficiency, a city with the infrastructure that the future demands, aquaponic farms, weather protected bike highways, smart power grid, and as much automation as possible.

The biggest hurtle I can see is money. This would obviously cost millions in materials even if the labor is volunteered by future residents. Especially given that healthy & enthusiastic typically means young and young typically means poor.

loving my new hardware :) what do you guys think? by lrose907in thick

The hardware is nice but the software is what I'm loving.

We have a problem by Ru1138in Futuristpolitics

What exactly is you concern? A bunch of fascist centenarians will join this subreddit? I think that futurism the arm movement is far enough in the past that there wont be any confusion. But if you want to change it thats fine too.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was defending social security. I just didn't want it to be our one way of freeing up revenue.

Why is social security the first thing we want to cut to fix the budget? Why not the bloated military budget? Or why not increasing tax revenue?
