Hey, I need some help with camp cabin decorations! by Kossa2013in InteriorDesign

[–]Kossa2013[S] 0 points1 point ago

I know what you mean. It blows my mind to think about regular summer camps now, and think that some of them actually have ratios of like 1:10. If this ever happened at my camp, we would have a legitimate emergency. Good luck to you too!

It doesn't look that bad. :) Our decorations mainly just consist of a lot of streamers and bunches of posters/painted signs/or coloring sheets from campers. I don't have any pictures of the entire cabin, this is all I could find.. Well, this is my third year of being at camp, but it's my first summer getting paid. It's a camp for kids with special needs so we have a bunch of volunteer counselors (we have to keep a 1 to 1 ratio). So, this is my first year actually staying in the same cabin all summer long, and my first year to stay for the whole summer too. :D

Thanks! I really like these ideas; we're definitely using hula-hoops :)

Wow, I am in no way trying to be creepy, but as I saw your comment I was currently reading through your AMA xD. That sucks, though; we're expected to decorate, like a lot actually. Then again, my camp isn't all fancy like yours ;P so decorations are somewhat necessary. haha :)

Do you have a Texas drawl? by JustAGuy22in texas

[–]Kossa2013 0 points1 point ago

East Texas is known for having extreme Texas accents, at least around where I live. Also, I have cousins who have grown up in Fort Worth, Longview, Houston, Yoakum, and then me (between Austin and Houston). Most of my cousins and I have accents that are unnoticeable (to Texans), but we've been making fun of our Longview cousins their entire lives for the accents. They have the hugest Texas drawls in existence, and I've only ever heard similar ones from East Texans.

A friend of mine posted a picture of her dog on facebook; I figured reddit would like it. by carolinam12_1in aww

I thought the exact same thing. Either neither of are fucked mentally, or we both are. ಠ_ಠ

Today I tripped and fell on a girl I liked and broke both her legs. What's the worst you've ever hurt someone? by Poopsack99in AskReddit

[–]Kossa2013 0 points1 point ago

Not my story, but when a friend of mine was in fifth grade, they had a program that allowed the typical children to play with the special needs children. During recess, one typical child would be paired up with a buddy, and they would play together. Well, my friend was pulling the girl in a wagon, and she accidentally flipped it over. Her buddy fell out but didn't seem very upset or hurt. My friend felt really bad but was scared to get in trouble for it, so she never mentioned it. Later in the week, the counselor came in to talk to her class and explained that one of buddies had their arm broken during one of the recesses, and I guess was scolding them/trying to find out who did it. My friend obviously doesn't say anything, but felt like absolute shit over it. She never told anyone until last year, five years after it occurred.

Tl;dr: my friend unknowingly broke a disabled child's arm and got away with it

Happy Autism Awareness Day :) by Kossa2013in pics

He looks absolutely awesome :) This cool kid in my picture is my cousin; he turned 13 in December. And yeah, Reddit seems to think that any mention of autism is automatically an attempt at karma-whoring. :/

Today I may have gotten myself suspended for standing up to an old lady in public. I don't regret it for a second. But should I have been so hard on the lady? by DropsTheMicin AskReddit

[–]Kossa2013 0 points1 point ago

Screw that. You should've been harder on the lady, and completely chewed her out. The lady obviously understood that he had special needs, and it doesn't matter what era you come from- you just don't say stuff like that. I work at a camp for children with special needs, and both my cousin and nephew have autism. My cousin is much more severe and has behavior problems. I've never personally witnessed someone actually saying something rude to him, but we've gotten plenty of disapproving glares. An individual with special needs has the same right as every other person to go out in public, so people like that lady need to STFU.

Son of a bitch. The second I started reading his comment my light bulb popped out of power. I believe this man has mystical powers along with being a programmer and engineer.

Reddit, I'm currently reading All The Pretty Horses and cannot stand it. What is the worst book/movie/story you've ever encountered? by Kossa2013in AskReddit

This is the first. Perhaps if I had read other works of his I would be able to appreciate the style of writing, but in this book at least, I can't get past it.

I have an issue with the way it's written. The story itself is alright, and even though I don't particularly like Western-ish books, I see how it could be enjoyable and all. I just cannot stand all the run-ons and the lack of punctuation. I know some authors are brilliant enough that they don't need to stick to conventional writing rules; I just don't think McCarthy is one of them.

I remember reading that in sixth grade, thinking I understood the entire thing, and then failing the AR test over it miserably. -.-
