TROPHY CASE

Just came out to my very religious Jewish parents about being atheist. My dad posted this on my facebook wall writing, "I thought you might enjoy this." by LoveandSausagesin atheism

You say that something is not a topic for debate in Rabbinic Judaism? Hahahaha :D

"I am still an Atheist Jew, until things could be proved otherwise" You are an agnostic then. You guys really have to learn some philosophy :)

This is not atheism. It is called pantheism. But yes, the great thing about Judaism is that there is a plethora of different philosophies.

You must not cover the bottom of the oven with tinfoil. it reflects the heat, you know? You should put the tinfoil under the pizza, on the rack.

I will send tons of mycorrhiza DNA from plant roots for pyrosequencing. Not sure if we found the best solution with 454 though.

Exactly. When my dog has seen snow for the first time, she looked at me like "why are you doing this to me".

Menopausa is not caused by ovaries running out of eggs. Normal females have like 400000 potential eggs, so much more than necessary.

No it does not. Mesonephros makes nephrons and such. It is in the aorta-gonad-mesonephros region, from which of course the "gonad" part forms the gonads later.

I like the "Bori notesz" (Camp Notebook) with his last poems that he wrote during forced labour and while on death march. "Under Gemini" is the prose memoir and some poems, and it is the book where the excerpt about his twin is.

Both available in English, I have no clue about the quality of the translation unfortunately.

Yes, they died during birth. I am a native Hungarian, so I can understand his works, but you can find some of his works translated to English.

There is a great Hungarian poet with the same experience: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikl%C3%B3s_Radn%C3%B3ti

He wrote quite a lot about his feelings, like this:

"Three years later Radnóti was also informed that at his birth not only his mother but also his twin brother died. The poet could not get over this trauma until his own death, and repeatedly returned to it in his poems and in his essay Gemini. He also touched this topic in his autobiographic sketch in 1940: “I am a twin child, but my twin brother died together with my mother at my birth. My mother was killed by the twin birth, her heart could not bear it, and my brother was weak, perhaps I drained his vital force. When I was twelve my father died as well. I did not know my mother and I hardly remember my father. I only caress some sharp but disconnected images of him…”"

In Germany (Berlin):

-Wurst in every food. My boss said if I lived for enough time here, I wouldn't ask why there is wurst in my soup, I would ask why there is no wurst in the dessert. -Everything starts 2 minutes earlier. -Massive amount of firework around New Years

Hungary:

Spicy food - it is like a contest to eat more spicy than the others Weird language

US:

Half of your drink is ice Air-conditioning everywhere, 10 grades lower temperature then outside Buildings with very thin wooden walls that burn down in 5 minutes

Well in Moscow, traffic and motorist moral is so terrible on the roads, that pedestrians are rather forced to underpasses rather to let them cross the road.

There is an officer-looking guy/woman sitting between the escalators in every station. There is even Metro-police, and almost a whole city (several shops, pharmacies, etc) in metro-stations. Some homeless actually never go up if they manage to get in.

You are the coolest if you are able to drink burning vodka.

There is beer from bread (kvas).

Kiss on the lips from not only your partner.

Several things :)
