I feel like the anti-Facebook circlejerk on Reddit is by far one of the biggest... It's a circlejerk everyone can join!

Oh. I didn't get the reference/know the song.

This is true, but yeah, I was just pointing out the ridiculousness in Debito's statement.

TIL there are gaijin in Japan who didn't know about this yet.

My Japanese drivers license has RFID... so all Japanese people have that...

Who or what is "Kyo'to"?

I've heard enough about the games! What are some great apps worth buying? by Astronnilathin Android

[–]PeanutButterChicken 0 points1 point ago

...I would do it, and I don't have an iPhone. I have an iPod, which I use instead of my phone for music, since I don't like the cable stretching from my phone, plus the battery life hit sucks. I can just clip the iPod to my shirt and listen away.

If you're living in Japan, you really should make a credit card... makes life easier.

Kyoto Tower is literally a big white stick. It's awful, but at least it looks nice lit up at night.

M6.4 - 93km E of Miyako, Japan by faerielfirein japan

[–]PeanutButterChicken -1 points0 points ago

There's literally nothing on the JMA site about it, so it probably didn't register on any of their sensors.

I'm Half Japanese...do I still have a chance to get in JET program? by KAMFlamencoin japan

[–]PeanutButterChicken 6 points7 points ago

I know several JETs who are fully Japanese, second-generation, and they had no problems.

Yeah, I see that now. Odd! Maybe it wasn't felt inland? Seems unlikely, if it was a M6.4...

I see "Miyako, Japan" and immediately think "There was an earthquake in Okinawa??"

Nothing on the JMA site yet about this quake though.

Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III review by GSMArena by Get_Thisin Android

[–]PeanutButterChicken -3 points-2 points ago

Look at one. If you're used to HD LCDs at the same size, the Pentile screen is VERY jarring. I assume you haven't seen it yet. Here's a pic I took with my Arc. http://i.imgur.com/MSGWR.jpg

The text isn't 100% sharp. It's much better than the Galaxy Nexus, but I do not like it, and thus, I will not be purchasing the Galaxy S III.

Now THAT'S cosplay.. by hmistryin pics

[–]PeanutButterChicken 0 points1 point ago

You did, by calling the girl in the OP not hot then offering up this chick as an example.

Now THAT'S cosplay.. by hmistryin pics

[–]PeanutButterChicken -1 points0 points ago

For cosplay, she's fine. Saying she's hot is something else entirely.

Now THAT'S cosplay.. by hmistryin pics

[–]PeanutButterChicken 1 point2 points ago

Not really. At cosplay events here, the more showing, the less likely people are going to respect you. Check out 2ch, they're not big fans of the naked chicks.

Upside Down Apple Logo by dzamirin apple

[–]PeanutButterChicken 4 points5 points ago

Eventually I got exhausted from people making value calls about me based on the logos I showed off (or maybe the brands just convinced me they were). "oh your shirt doesnt say diesel and you arent wearing the newest Adidas"

Does this actually happen in real life, or just in movies? I can't say that's ever happened to me... and I'm not exactly a shut-in who doesn't leave the house.

...the girl you linked is below average in Japan.

Is even Osaka, Japan the safest place in the world? by RoninGaijinin japan

[–]PeanutButterChicken 1 point2 points ago

Dotonbori is seedy, but I don't feel unsafe there. I was more referring to Shinsekai at night, or Nishinari-ku. Other than that, there really aren't places that are awful or anything. I guess Juso is kinda shady at night too.

Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III review by GSMArena by Get_Thisin Android

[–]PeanutButterChicken 0 points1 point ago

I have superficial complaints about the design (IE, the corners are silly looking and I don't like the color variations). Thankfully, the Xperia GX and Galaxy SIII have the same processor (in Japan, because of LTE) so I can get the GX and have nearly the same performance and a better camera/design.

Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III review by GSMArena by Get_Thisin Android

[–]PeanutButterChicken 1 point2 points ago

For me, the design of a phone DOES affect its functionality. If the camera is placed in a weird area, it makes it difficult to take pictures. If the power button is on the side, in the middle, it makes it difficult to turn on/off the phone. If the headphone jack is on the side? Same thing. There's a ton about design that isn't just "herp derp, its pretty!!".

Same thing about the plastics used. I don't want a phone that attracts dirt and fingerprints, because then the screen will be harder to look at, or the back may feel odd to the touch. Maybe a metal phone is a bad idea, since the phone may heat up. Glass? Will shatter when broken. There's so much to consider in a phone's design that it's a huge factor in my purchase.

Depends. Well designed phones look good years later. The Motorola RAZR still looks like a very slick phone, and we're just now getting phones that match it in thinness. The Xperia Arc, the iPhone 4, the One X, they're all iconic designs that will still look nice years from now AND have good internals.
