I've read intriguing information about extra virgin coconut oil and its balancing effect on LDL/HDL, don't know for sure how accurate it is but worth looking in to.

I was wondering the same thing, she never signed any of the options nor were they depicted anywhere on that sheet... although maybe she was just signaling to where her preferred option on the picture sheet was, still kind of amazing though.

I shudder to think of the amount of engineering that went into making that bun. It seems freakishly perfect.

Hey reddit, could you help me fry some things? I have no idea how to make a good batter. (Desired result picture included) by Baydestrianin Cooking

[–]SomeSortofLandCow 0 points1 point ago

That chicken doesn't look like it was actually battered, but rather "breaded". First, marinate your chicken in whatever you like overnight, then try just breading it with either wheat or rice flour, season the flour with salt and pepper. Fry in hot oil, like 375, in small batches as to not cool the oil down too much. When you're breading you basically just toss the chicken around in your flour mix making sure to get an even coating, and if you want a thicker crust you can strain out some of your marinade or just use some oil, then toss the already breaded pieces in the marinade or oil, and then the flour mix a second time.

Try the thundershirt, it actually works.

I do not now nor have I ever worked for the thundershirt company and I in no way benefit from anyone buying one, except perhaps if you are my neighbor and get one for your dog that is always barking at random things in the middle of the night and you purchase this and it helps keep your dog quiet when everyone else is trying to sleep

So... If in five years you've spent approximately $600 on 15 chef's knives, why wouldn't you just get yourself one superior quality chefs knife and a high end sharpening system that would easily last 10-15 years? Not being condescending, genuinely curious.

There's a freshness that the unfinished piece has that feels more engaging to me than the finished one. It's difficult, especially as a relatively new painter, to not sometimes shoot yourself in the foot by "finishing" a piece too much. I remember when you posted this painting earlier and I thought it had a strange kind of sinister undertone that I couldn't quite put my finger on but was hoping it wasn't just incidental (however the fact that I remembered it so clearly is something of a testament to the quality of your work, most of the paintings that show up here are very unmemorable). I think overall it's very well done and I hope you continue to paint but allow yourself to loosen up a bit, look at painters like Cezanne, Lucian Freud (one of my favorite portraitists) and maybe Alice Neel, all have this amazing looseness to their work while maintaining a clear mastery of their craft... not that you have to do anything one way or another, certainly you should do the kind of painting that excites you.

Cooking sea food..particularly shrimp. by ashleyribiin Cooking

Shrimp cook best in a very hot pan for very little time, when they're pink and have just a touch of translucency they're finished. One of my favorite shrimp recipes is Szechuan salt and pepper shrimp, super easy and only 4 ingredients, plus you leave the shells on which also helps them stay juicy and tender. You need: Shrimp, about 1/2 lb (the larger the better), Safflower or Peanut oil (or any neutral oil with a high smoke point), 1 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1T roasted and ground Szechuan peppercorns (if you can't find these you can use like 1/2-1 teaspoon of black pepper, not at all the same but still good) Get a wok or a regular frying pan with about 1-2 T of oil in it smoking hot. Add the shrimp and stir fry for 1&1/2 to 2 minutes, until they are pink but still the tiniest bit translucent, adding the salt and Szechuan pepper or black pepper when they are just about done. If you want more shrimp you should do them in batches as adding too much to the pan will cool it to the point where they will take too long to cook and become rubbery. Then you basically just eat them with your hands, or if you're highly skilled with chopsticks and can peel them without using your hands by all means do so. Szechuan peppercorns (not chilies) are the small husks of the seeds of the prickly ash tree found in the northern Szechuan region, sometimes labeled "red peppercorns" in asian markets. They have a numbing heat, kind of strange at first but totally addictive and amazing.

Sanding is probably the most dangerous thing you could do, even outside and with proper ventilation it is extremely unsafe to sand lead paint. If you are going to repaint it and want to get the old paint off I highly recommend you educate yourself about how to do it safely.
