TROPHY CASE

WAYWT — May 22nd by MFAModeratorin malefashionadvice

Thoughts on the cropped chino pants? Looking to get a pair but not sure on the quality. How obnoxious does the side zip pocket look too?

The blazer/denim thing was literally just to see if the actual blazer could work casually, i didn't actually wear it out or anything. It's a suit jacket originally so it was just something i wanted to try to see if it could be pulled off as a single blazer (thought i might have to change the buttons for it to work or something maybe?)

Not too sure about the shoes myself. Got em for £130 down from £245 though so I don't know whether i want to return them. Do you think the colour is versatile enough?

The suit I'm wearing is definitely the same colour (i'm not sure what happened to the lighting but it's definitely a two-piece matching suit of the same colour) but a lot of people had the same thought you did when i originally posted it. Here's a pic of the pants/jacket together in a different room, which has worse, but kinda better lighting.

UK redditors, I've created a subreddit where you can list your items for sale or trade. Please help get it running! by sighkickin unitedkingdom

I made a post in it about books. Hopefully this subreddit will get some interest. I have a lot of clothes etc (some higher-end stuff like Jeffrey West boots, Cheaney brogues, some Sam Windsor suede brogues, some Bally suede brogues, some U/O Shore Leave light tan chuckas [w/ red brick contrast sole]) to sell too so hopefully the subreddit will take off.

Does this jacket work as a blazer(casual)? (Ignore the untucked shirt)

Post.

The shirt sleeves are too short, the jacket itself isn't too long or anything.

Here is my wearing that blazer as part of a suit

[UK] Thoughts on these shoes? They're Cheaney, got em for £130, were £245 originally. Will they work casually (main use for me) the colour is 'light tan'. Sorry for the two albums!

What did you do in the sun today? by soapyjin unitedkingdom

[–]Tetzel 1 point2 points ago

Monday was my last essay for Uni so after working on that for 14 hours i went to a friends house for a drink or two and a nice nights sleep. This morning we headed for town and he went off shopping with his gf. I got breakfast at the Abergeldie cafe, then went to see see The Avengers (thought it was a crock of shit) with a different friend. After that we went to The Garrot (opposite 5th Ave) for a few drinks in the sunshine, though this was about 4:45 so we only caught the end of it.

Pretty nice day, though i have an exam on the 30th which I'm not looking forward to, but until then I'm having a few days of rest.

and by attempting to stifle conversation on war

I have not done any such thing.

I have no power in this forum to stifle any conversation. If you don't like me telling you how futile discussing war will be on the hivemind that is reddit (protip: people arguing against the war will be upvoted) then just click and move on. Your percieved right to a discussion doesn't come in place of my right to tell you your discussion is pointless.

I don't know if you're actually talking about me there, but I'm from the UK, and have never actually seen a Jon Stewart show. Nevertheless, i think that discussing it on reddit isn't going to do anything. The admins aren't going to stop doing this because the userbase is unhappy about it, so what's the point of even pretending that the contrived and obvious discussion about how warisbadmmmkay, is anything but played out?

I can't wait for this thread to be filled with polite discussion about the militairy and the wars they're currently engaged in!

Please draw Jean Genet having a cup of tea with Samuel Beckett. Currently locked in the library writing an essay about these two so it'd be pretty cool.

Probably too late for this but does this blazer work in a casual way?

Post.

Also, how are the shoes? I have another picture of them up close at home but I'm in the library right now so i can't post it...sorry.

Also, shirt sleeves are too short, jacket isn't too long!

I am in a mixed camp about joke posts and self-posts. On the one hand i think that posts like this and this don't really have any place here because:

A) They're not asking for advice.

B) They were posted not to actually ask for advice, but just to 'show off'. (seemingly)

I'm not saying that posts of well-dressed people caught by fantastic photography shouldn't be allowed, just that the abundance of these posts seems to detract from the whole advice part of this subreddit.

Of course there's a distinction to be made between posts which are obviously 'here's me looking amazing', and posts which are 'here's me looking good is it okay?' (an example of the latter is here) and i don't think I'm the one who is most able to make that distinction right now. If anything it should be a distinction made by the community (if they want to make one).

Those are just my thoughts anyway. I understand that the two images i linked at first can be beneficial to those who are looking to improve their own aesthetic, but i feel that they don't actually seek any advice, and nor do they offer any.

(I chose those three posts because they're currently two of the most upvoted posts of all time here at mfa)

[–]Tetzel -6 points-5 points ago

Are you programmed to spout those online? And if yes, are they appropriate even if they're 'programmed' to happen, and if no, why spout them if they're not appropriate?

You're trying to argue that you're biologically programmed to make comments on people's appearances online. That is ridiculous. If you can't control what comes out of your mouth then you shouldn't be trusted to speak. Make judgements all you want, but they have no place being vocalised in that thread. They've got nothing to do with the actual topic.

You're basically arguing that you have the right to talk about anyone's appearance if they put themselves out there, but I doubt you'd have trouble resisting your 'human nature' when talking to people on the street, would you?

Take your time. You're making the effort to try and get theist word, so you may as well justify making unsolicited comments on people's appearances.

A picture of a person holding their degree? Obviously they want us to comment on their physical appearance!

A picture of a soldier in Iraq? Better say if they're ugly or not, I mean, what else are we meant to talk about?

A guy holding his cat? I mean yeah it's a cat and everything, but what can we tell from this? Better let him know if he's attractive or not.

A picture of a guy with a celebrity he interviewed? I mean, sure we could ask him about the interview, the celebrity, the journalism career etc, but what's the point? Instead of asking for the article lets just talk about his looks.

Your points don't make any sense.

she posted a picture of her physical attributes so I'm entitled to tell her how my penis feels.

Didn't you say that before? You just need to educate yourself on what's appropriate and what isn't. Your wilful ignorance isn't exactly a virtue at the moment. Talking about someone's looks when it's unsolicited can be seen as creepy. It's as simple as that.

It's very simple. You just need to learn that it isn't always appropriate to comment on a posters looks, and that doing so, especially when it's unwarranted, can be considered creepy. Once you educate yourself on that you'll be okay!

Also you failed to address any of my points.
