I think this is a situation of Hate The Game, Not The Player. The players are just using what was given to them. So... Regardless of what Blizzard intended, this is what came up. If you weren't supposed to rush Act 4 Inferno and kill Diablo with those tactics, then why did they have those abilities? Sure, Blizzard fucked up and now they're fixing it... But you can't blame frustrated players that felt like they were progressing.

Well, for what it's worth, I've watched thousands of hours of SC2... Which I agree isn't saying much... But that's my feel for the game after watching it for so long. I don't claim to have any knowledge of balance and whatnot. Heck, sometimes I'll be watching a game and I'll be like: There's no way he can hold that, even with perfect micro! And then he holds it.

Although I'm not even close to the skill level of a lot of other people... Each race is different. With Terran you can have map control from early-game right up to the late-game. As Protoss, if you're in the early-game, you need perfect forcefields or you will just die. Then in the mid-game, you need perfect splitting or you'll get attacked on two sides and just die. It's only in the late game that Protoss really starts to feel safe, because they can properly defend drops, and have splash damage.

The late-game protoss army is the strongest army, I agree with that.

As a counter-point... I loved BroodWar growing up, and I made more friends online thanks to videogames and such than in real life. Don't get me wrong, I knew a lot of people in real life, and I was pretty sociable in school. But there wasn't much to do outside of school in my town, and of the people I knew, very few of them were really my friends. I never felt like I connected with them, they were completely different from me. It changed when I finally went to college and I started to meet more people with similar interests, of course.

But my point is that things like videogames and help socialization a lot more. A lot of my closest friends I've met online.
