What chore incentives for teens really work? by gadkarisanin AskReddit

[–]Themehmeh 1 point2 points ago

I would ask them. "What can I do to get you to do chores"

I wouldn't have given them the privileges you gave them but when you take them all away as punishment the kids get stressed and work won't get done anyway, they'll just rebel and throw a fit. My parents punished me if I didn't do my chores or if I got a grade under a B, As a result my grades dropped further from the unwillingness to work and I was literally grounded for all of highschool in a sort of stand-off. What they didn't do is ask why I was rebelling, do any chores themselves, or provide meaningful incentives (I've never been impressed with material wealth so cash prizes never worked)

My teenage sister in law is currently doing the same thing. I think there's a healthy balance between incentive and punishment as well as leading by example and having good communication. Your goal is to get them to want to work, not force them to do the crappy chores.

Lifeguards of Reddit, how often (during active hours) do you have to go in and rescue someone/do something? non-lifeguards any interesting things you've seen them do? by Donjuanmein AskReddit

[–]Themehmeh 0 points1 point ago

one time I was at schlitterbahn going around the wave pool with my husband, and we were touching, but it wasn't inappropriate, just normal swimming around in public with someone kinda stuff. A lifeguard I didn't know spit ice out of her mouth and hit my forehead while spraying me with a watergun to tell us to stop touching. The ice broke skin on my forehead. Only experience with a lifeguard to date.

Reddit, what are some of your irrational fears? by sunshinesanin AskReddit

[–]Themehmeh 0 points1 point ago

I dont like blood being drawn and the adrenaline rush I get from being terrified plus the missing blood usually causes me to pass out a few minutes after it's taken. I feel like when they poke my delicate arm seam my arm will just fall right off. So naturally I have some health problems where I need blood taken regularly.

Is it helpful if you gently let the gf be aware they are, very obviously, PMSing? How do you/do you not handle a gf PMS? by NewDeepin AskReddit

[–]Themehmeh 0 points1 point ago

It most certainly will not trigger an "oops"

She's worked up and angry, She has a valid issue that has gotten to her more today than the other day, but she's still upset about it and the issue is still valid. If you tell her she's PMSing she'll freak out. You're essentially telling her "Your problems are less important because you have hormones"

Hey reddit, my car was stolen yesterday. Have you ever had a vehicle stolen? Did you get it back? by olinerin AskReddit

[–]Themehmeh 1 point2 points ago

My friend got her car back, the windows and transmission were broken. People usually take cars to joyride and be bad guys or to have them disassembled and sold as parts because it's the easiest way to not get caught So there's usually only a small window in which they can find it.

Normally I am okay with killing animals and say oh well, such is the way of life, but I don't really think it's appropriate to breed them so that nothing can be done but kill them. Also, I can't imagine a chicken bred to be like that isn't in constant pain or discomfort which to me is also a big no-no in the food raisin' process.

locate the artery on the left side of his neck, Get an exacto knife, raise the feathers so skin is exposed and make a quick smooth cut of the artery without damaging the rest of the neck. open the bird's mouth and push the knife up through the palate and into it's skull. this will kill it faster. Turn the bird upside down and let it finish bleeding.

Heat water to just below boiling and dip the bird in for about 10 seconds. The feathers will come off easily now.

Chop off the head and feet, make an incision around the anus, being careful not to cut the intestines, and remove the innards.

leave in a brine of 1 cup salt 1 gallon of water and a squeezed lemon for 5 hours, take out of the brine and let the bird sit in the fridge overnight.

place in a pan, cover in foil and cook 350f until meat has reached core temp of 160. Remove foil, brush with honey. cook an additional 10 minutes and serve.

You should look up the breed of chickens that they use in commercial chicken production. Usually they're Cornish X. They're bred to grow twice as fat as a normal chicken, so they're full sized at 3 months instead of 6 and they grow so fast that they usually die in less than a year. Normally they die because they broke a limb doing normal non overexertive chicken stuff, or their intestines fell out, or they try to lay an egg (this crossbreed can't even lay eggs) These birds literally fall apart if kept alive for anything longer than three months. If you ask me, That's the most repulsive thing I've ever heard of and I would rather kill a live chicken with my own teeth than think of how humans could have thought it was okay. Unfortunately the chicken laws in my city don't allow me to kill/own my own, so I settle for a few contraband chickens for eggs only.

Just found my GF of 5.5 years sending naked texts to old boyfriends. What should I do? by leberin AskReddit

sounds to me like she lacks sexual self-control and has convinced you to go along for the ride. Drunkenness doesn't create a different person, it just lowers your inhibitions. I'd say she's dangerous.

How does your thought process work? that is, what is going on in your head when you are concentrating on something? by uniquelyaveragein AskReddit

[–]Themehmeh 0 points1 point ago

One thing I've noticed is that I think the thought I'm going to think. then I sort of have to say it aloud in my head even though I already know what I was thinking. I figure if I could remove that process altogether I could maximize my thought capacity and increase productivity by 80% but usually when I try I end up thinking "I should probably stop this internal narration to increase productivity by 80%...Damn it, I'm still doing it... DAMN IT I'M DOING IT AGAIN!"

Questions about the pill. by porgsin TwoXChromosomes

[–]Themehmeh 0 points1 point ago

My doctor told me I was safe to have sex a week after I started- However she also told me she didn't know how the pill worked. Most people say wait a month or use alternate protection to play it safe.

I was fine for my first year of using the pill... then It really messed me up, I was tired all the time, angry all the time, extremely depressed, and I gained a massive amount of weight because before the pill I had a high metabolism and was somewhat athletic and was used to being able to eat a lot of unhealthy food. I stopped taking it and it took a year and a half for my period to go to normal, but I immediately started feeling healthy again.

Ive used the one month and three month pills and I didn't like any of them.

Every person I know who's had a baby says "I was on the pill" But I HIGHLY doubt they were using it correctly and sort of suspect more women sabotage the pill than we'd like to admit.

To the shirtless guy running with his off-leash dog on the north section of the Leon Creek Greenway: by hypermarkin sanantonio

[–]Themehmeh 6 points7 points ago

I leash my dog. Sometimes my dog hates other dogs, and sometimes he loves them, it always makes me extremely nervous when leashless dogs run up to mine. Also some people leave their dogs off the leash, but are borderline aggressive, or hard to control and shouldn't be off a leash. Leash laws are a huge deal, Super important, and it's very stressful when someone doesn't obey them. So yes, I'd say it's notable.

are shows like "scare tactics" irresponsible? could scaring someone that bad traumatized them? by Phyllis_Lapin-Vancein AskReddit

[–]Themehmeh 1 point2 points ago

They probably sign a waiver but think they're on a different show. For instance, Cash cab participants know they're on their way to a game show, sign all the forms, get picked up by a cab on the way to what they think is another step in the qualification process, and get surprised by cash cab.
