TROPHY CASE

Can someone tell me what the chords are to this song? by Broujein guitarlessons

[–]TotallyRandomMan 1 point2 points ago

Whoops, my apologies.. that pre-chorus should read "B/A/D/E", not "G/A/D/E". I'll fix it in the original post.

Sounds like bar chords all throughout. verse - B/A/D/G+A. pre-chorus - B/A/D/E. Chorus - B/E/F#/A. Any variations that come later in the song are very minor.

EDIT: fixed a mistake

I'd almost entirely forgotten about U.S. Acres! For that matter, I had to look it up to remember what Jim Davis's non-Garfield creation was called, and found that it was only called U.S. Acres here in the US. Everywhere else it was called Orson's Farm.

Subconsciously I must have noticed that they kept redoing this same logo scene over the years and that he kept getting older, but I wasn't actually consciously aware of it 'til just now.

Mostly, but TOMT is definitely more for when you're trying to find out what the thing you're looking for actually is. So you wouldn't go there looking for some obscure object that you already know all about but just can't find or haven't heard anyone else mention in a long time. That sounds like more of a job for /r/HelpMeFind.

I don't have much time to poke around right this second, but combination of funky flute + 70's = probable Jethro Tull song. They are famous for their funky flute solos. Check 'em out.

That is a good way to look at it; I think I just may look at it that way from now on, even if only to make myself feel better. Thanks. :) (Although the Horn of Eld or whatever it's called still isn't present, so... I just won't think about that, heh.)

Just a quick note to remind us that readers of the Revised Edition will find a fairly significant difference from the original one... specifically concerning Roland's actions in Tull. For the record, I'm not a fan of King's tweak. I thought the original did far more justice to the complexity of Roland's character.

I'm sure the people who downvoted this perfectly legitimate question belong to the "Just Google It" camp. Someone should take those grumpy, anti-social misanthropes and... I don't know... roll them into a large ball or something.

I know you're just giving a supportive poke, which is totally cool, but this is a good time to remind people that listing off all the reasons you want to quit (tally up all yer bitches) and keeping them someplace you can easily read and re-read them is a good, solid way to keep you focused and keep your eye on the prize. Nothing wrong with that!

If only it were this simple... by slothzenin depression

[–]TotallyRandomMan 2 points3 points ago*

Depression the illness and depression the state of mind go hand in hand, and quite often you don't know which is which, because those fuckers work together, against you. There's nothing wrong with telling your particular story (in fact, your story is not all that unusual, believe it or not), and facing your issues will hopefully be the start of a better path for you. Telling your story here is helpful, because there are undoubtedly those who can relate; people whose problem is maybe more "mental" and less neurological. It may shed light on their own issues. We certainly have the power to talk ourselves into our problems, as well as out.

But I'm sure you understand that for many people (maybe even for you still, depending on how things go), the illness is real, and talking themselves in or out of their state of mind is only half the battle, and unless they get further help, like from a doctor, the battle will not resolve itself.

Read "Ishmael" and need related book suggestions by fappleofmyeyein booksuggestions

I found "Culture Jam" by Calle Lasn to have a similar effect on me. (He is the founder of 'Adbusters'.) It's pure non-fiction; no quirky story to deliver its message, but it's a quick engaging read that succinctly highlights all the dangers of our society's wanton consumerist mentality. It has its preachy moments, but for the most part it is written in a tone that is genuinely thought-provoking and concerned for the world, rather than condescending and cynical. I read it cover to cover in one sitting when I was younger, and honestly, when I was finished, I stepped outside and saw a different world than the one I saw before I picked up the book. I'm sure it hit me at just the right time in my life, but one way or another I'd say it's a worthwhile read.

Agree or disagree, there's absolutely nothing unreasonable about her observations. She wasn't even pushy or impolite about it. Have trouble dealing with someone's opinion? Maybe you should... I don't know... lighten the fuck up and realize that your shit stinks too.

An FA-18 Hornet just crashed into the apartments next to me... by bobazefettin pics

[–]TotallyRandomMan 4 points5 points ago*

There were only two people taken to the hospital, neither of them with life-threatening injuries. Considering how grim this accident easily could have ended, that's cause for celebration and cheer, if you ask me.

I do appreciate that you thought about it though.. many people have no empathy or even consideration nowadays. And when the excitement dies down, yes... some folks will need a new home. That is not particularly funny, and hopefully no one will try to assuage them with lame humor just yet. But in the meantime, back on Reddit... silly jokes a-go.
