Questions about Black Milk by rp23521in fashion

[–]alekzia[M] 0 points1 point ago

They're recommended as hand-wash only, so as long as you take care of them, you should be fine. I have the wet-look tights (not much of a legging lady myself), but a few of my friends have bought the printed ones (cloud dress and galaxy blue and purple leggings). They photograph well. The prints are much more vibrant in person than they are in photos (it's possible!) and I've seen them worn casually and for going out.

They are definitely worth the price. Shipping can take a while (it took about three weeks to Canada the standard mail, two weeks with Fedex), but it's worth it. I'd suggest buying soon since their new business model seems to prevent "custom" orders for a while. Your favourite styles will probably sell out quickly. This might also lead to faster shipping time, now that I think about it.

Saturday Haul: American Apparel's "Dance", "Office" and "Galaxy". by nervein RedditLaqueristas

AA Dance is my go-to nude colour. I find it too creamy to do anything very detailed with it (I once made the characters from the Wizard of Oz on my hands, and tried using it for the face of the Scarecrow, but it kept smearing). I love how it looks matte as well.

What Size Am I? - Put in your measurements, and figure out which stores will fit you best by OolongBunnyin fashion

It might just be saying that the measurements aren't generally a good fit for your body. It seems a little off for me too.

I'm a broke college kid looking for cheap, cheap, things to do in Toronto and need a few tips from Torontians(?) themselves! by Count_Me_Inin toronto

[–]alekzia 0 points1 point ago

Where will you be staying? Maybe we can help you determine what to do near where you'll be. The TTC (transit) day pass that Orioneone suggested is an excellent idea, and you and your companion can share one day pass on either a Saturday or Sunday.

Change your money before you get here. Since we struck parity, lots of Canadian retailers accept the US dollar at $0.95 (or even 0.9) CAD.

There are lots of things to do for relatively cheap, and there's no reason to go "all out." Personally, I find expensive clubs and concerts overrated and a lot less fun than just having a drink somewhere. Here's a list of a few more popular destinations. If you describe your idea of fun, I'm sure one of us can help direct you to an appropriate venue.

I'd say you were the luckier one. The College/Bathurst streetcar NEVER comes.

What is the best Winners location? by forgeticusin toronto

[–]alekzia 0 points1 point ago

I spend about 5 hours a week at the Yonge/College one. I can affirm that it is among the best Winners location for sales, prices and a good selection of products.

EXCEPT for children's apparel and toys. There are no toys here.

You really are better off finding a tailor, or browsing flash sale sites if you're looking for a good deal and high quality. Beyond the Rack, Hautelook, Gilt, Jackthreads and PLNDR all ship to Canada. The latter two specialize more in streetwear.

What are your measurements?

Buying Essie in Ontario by [deleted]in RedditLaqueristas

Toronto Beauty Supply has Essie nail polishes for 6.99 at regular price and clearance polishes for 3.99. The clearance polishes are usually from older seasons. Although I don't think they have the winter 2011 Cocktail Bling collection, they have the normal salon collection and all of this year's other lines.

As well, the Trade Secrets stores in the Eaton Centre and in the Holt Renfrew Centre frequently have Essie and Zoya polishes at "Buy one, get one 50% off." Although you still end up paying $15 for two, if you're looking for a new collection, it's the best place to look.

Also, Pharma Plus carries the current "in season" Essie retail line, and once every two months or so, reduces the price to 7.00. A little cheaper than Trade Secrets, an arm and a leg cheaper than Shoppers' (12 dollars regular price, really?).

Edit: Also, Winners. Check your local Winners every now and then, or any Winners store with a Runway section. China Glaze and Essie are 5.99, OPI is the most expensive at 6.99.

Me too. I love that it's a dusty pink in some lights, a near nude in others and slightly lilac sometimes as well.

Where will you be staying? It'll give us a better idea of what kind of places to recommend to you.

This weekend, Toronto has a bunch of "holiday" festivities planned, including the mostly disappointing Santa Claus Parade and the ceremonial lighting of Yonge/Dundas square and the Bloor/Yorkville area. Keep those two events in mind if you want to avoid crowds.
