German soldier aims his rifle at a Jewish mother shielding her child, Kiev 1942 [2528x1744] by LastEmperorin HistoryPorn

This. I've read this book as well and it is probably one of the best WW2 books i've ever read and I can recommend it to everyone who has the slightest interest in history.

They didn’t. The alcohol consumption and the suicide rates were high in the execution squads. The first solution was to force allied Baltic troops to do the killing (and since this photo is from 1942 I doubt it’s actually a German soldier who is holding the rifle), and the second step was the concentration camps to shield of the killers from their victims even more. It doesn’t make the photo or the act less horrifying, or disgusting, but claiming that they did it easily is not correct.

Hah, didn’t expect to find this on Reddit. I know My’s girlfriend on facebook, and at first this was a facebook group, but it only lasted for a week or two before it was gone. I assume their pictures were against some fb policy or something similar. The good thing about all this is that most comments on the blog are about how stupid the idea is.

Thanks for the help and those links. The photos was just amazing. And again, I apologise for the confusion.

I’m sorry, I’m an idiot. When I read your post I thought “70 to 95 miles a week? That’s a lot” and that’s when I realized I had messed up the km/miles converter without noticing. It’s supposed to be 30-40 miles per week. No wonder you were thinking I had some odd ideas!

Okay, so to sum it up, upper body on Mondays and not hit it too hard. Squats, dead lifts and other back muscles on Wednesday with some heavier weights, but with no hopes for setting any new PRs and listen to the body, if it doesn’t feel like doing heavy lifting that day, then don’t. What about yoga on Thursdays or is it better to just rest? 5 sets, 5 rep.? I have a nifty water belt that works surprisingly well, tho I have never used BCAAs, but it might be worth looking up since I will have to plan my eating quite studiously for the next 4 months anyway.

Yeah, I am well aware that the question is leaning towards the “eat the cake and still keep it” dilemma. And as I said, I’m well aware that there will be losses even though I’m not a big guy to begin with, I just want some pointers on what I can do minimize the loss. I don’t think I’m completely clueless since I’ve been running this kind of mileage before, so I’m well aware the costs, and the benefits =). But you’re right about the food part; I assume I should sit down and make some serious food planning as well.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. Maybe I should have mentioned that I’m an early morning person and always go to the gym before work. So gym in the morning and running after work is not a problem. So maybe I should change my gym days then and make them Monday and Wednesday? On Tuesdays I will run 6 miles in a comfortable pace without pushing myself too hard, and Thursday is a rest day. That would give me as much rest as possible after the gym sessions and it would allow me to have one intense day with lifting on Wednesdays. It would also open up for some yoga on Tuesdays to stretch those sore muscles, but that might be to overdo it.

My goal is to finish before 3:30 and I really do seek to push my limits. My running training goes in four weeks cycles with one hard week, one medium, hard again and then one easy, and then I repeat. Thursday and Sundays are rest days (the easy week has 3 days of rest). I’m not really worried about the running routine, I’ve done the routine before (this will be the first time I run a marathon tho) and I know how much I can push myself. What worries me is that I will lose too much upper body muscles in the process. And I know I will lose some, I just want to do the best I can to minimize it. And I’m really not some big power lifter guy, 175 cm tall and about 76-77 kg, more fit than fat, and I would really like to keep as much of those muscles as possible.

Thanks for the answer, but I must admit that i'm a bit iffy about doing squats. I will be running 70-95 30-40 miles per week, so I would rather let my legs rest as much as possible when im not running. Edit: Messed up the km/mile converter

Meetup i Umeå? by afrequentlurkerin sweden

Winter running in Sweden; distractions are not an issue. by another_phdin running

This is a small, poorly lighten track that leads around a lake, and what you see is a streetlight and a few trees, and snow of course. I thought more of the trees would be visible, but my camera failed me unfortunately. The photo is taken at around 5 pm.

Vaknar av klockradion 05:30, ingen snooze, går upp, fixar gröt till frukost, tandborstning, på med träningskläderna, sen antingen gymmet eller löparspåret, hem och duscha och på med dagens outfit och är på jobbet typ 08:15
