Back in the day TRL used to 'retire' videos that lasted in the top ten for too long. I think r/music needs to start doing the same thing for songs on its front page. I know Gorillaz are awesome, but seriously, this is like the 20th time I'm seeing On Melancholy Hill up in this bitch. by fuzzydunlapin Music

While we're at it can we have a moretorium on 'Dave Grohl/Thom Yorke stops concert to help a fan! Such a great guy!' type posts? It's of no interest to someone who's not a fan of that band.

While we're at it, instant lifetime ban for anyone that posts that unfunny 'Fresh Pots' clip.

An amendment that would legalize the use of propaganda on American audiences is being inserted into the latest defense authorization bill. The bi-partisan amendment is sponsored by Rep. Mark Thornberry from Texas and Rep. Adam Smith from Washington State. by Orangutanin politics

[–]chalkfacedgoon -1 points0 points ago

No real harm in this. Even if it was actually passed they wouldn't bother disseminating it. You would need the biggest propaganda campaign on earth to convince Americans that they aren't God's gift to planet earth. Besides, if it's so damaging to democracy why is it alright to send it overseas? Stop acting like everything is 1984.

He may not have been homeless. Maybe he just can't find anywhere that sells FUBU.

Too Hot for TED: Income Inequality — TED’s organizers recently decided one idea was too controversial to spread: the notion that widening income inequality is a bad thing for America, and that as a result, the rich should pay more in taxes by CroydonCin politics

TED is slickly produced fuzzy, feel-good coffee table book knowledge. They're not actually interested in challenging ideas, no matter how elementary.

It's called consumerism.

A rapper for those who hate most rap music. Del The Funky Homosapien is a monster! by cruyfffin Music

[–]chalkfacedgoon 0 points1 point ago

Fuck anyone who hates rap. A huge problem with "conscious hip hop" is that it is selected by an audience who go out of their way to only listen to rhymes that are articulate to white middle class people, lyrics that fit a certain pretentious template and only beats with a familiar sample-based groove.

Nothing against Del, he's great and the track's great, but I hate the mentality that only hip hop of a certain style is up to the standard of people who mostly listen to the Foo Fighters or Arcade Fire.

Bye Bye Banksy. Construction in Melbourne destroys iconic street art. by icontrolmyselfin australia

[–]chalkfacedgoon 1 point2 points ago

Banksy is overrated, all of his stuff are just variations on a theme. By all means protect his stuff, but there are better artists in Australia who I bet get their work destroyed all the time.

My string trio got the chance to play with this marvelous man. by OneCelloin Jazz

Is that Wynton Marsalis? Congratulations! Most of the time when he plays with someone he goes off to talk to a camera about how great you were so here's hoping it happens to you.

What does MFA think of my Summer attire? by whatisdookyin malefashionadvice

[–]chalkfacedgoon 0 points1 point ago

Honestly I wouldn't wear that if you paid me, but I realise that a lot of of flashy southern hip hop style is about flirting with looking ridiculous and taking risks with bold and loud clothes. So you should probably ask the people that you hang out with what they think before you ask some random guy half a world away. Personally I would be more inclined to look to Jay Z and Kanye as style icons, but I don't live in your neighborhood.

Saw BB King last night. Took some pictures. These two were my favourites. by SpaceMarinesin Music

She named her alter ego Roman Zolanski so that she could rhyme it with Roman Polanski in her lyric asserting that he was no relation to Roman Polanski. That is some next level shit, ya heard?
