Diablo 3's Launch Fiasco Proves Video Game Journalism Fails by Otis_Infin gaming

Cars have break in periods too. If you buy a Ferrari, BMW, or really any performance car, you can't drive it balls-out for a few months. Yet people don't complain because they're patient, and they know it's part of ownership. Having to wait a day to play a huge release is not really that terrible.

Israeli drivers stop in the middle of a highway to stand during the Holocaust Memorial Day siren by EliteKillin pics

[–]coupoin 6 points7 points ago

Not really. All he's saying is that Israel didn't "spontaneously form" on Palestinian land after WW2. The formation of Israel and the annexation of Palestinian land was and is a complex issue and to simplify it down to "spontaneous formation" is absurd.

Thank you for merging these subreddits! I agree though, I'd like to read the comments. Maybe if they were resubmitted into /r/cars if the CSS for /r/autos is fixed.

Why isn't there a RWD hatchback, preferably with a V8? by clever_imposterin Autos

Because the 5 people who want one will just build it. Buy a Focus, a 5.0 crate engine, and a mustang rear end and fab it up yourself. It would be cheaper than a factory version anyways.

Reddit if your country becomes unbeareable to live in where would you move? by nerdragewowin AskReddit

[–]coupoin 1 point2 points ago

I'm American and if my country became unbearable I would go to France. I think a lot of what he said are legitimate concerns, and France certainly has some serious social issues. Some of my best friends in France are openly racist against Maghrebans and no amount of debate will convince them otherwise.

However, it's still a safe place to live. The flip side of a divided, slow government is that it's slow to fuck up as well. And regarding the friendly with strangers part, I think that's par for the course in a lot of places. I never got that feeling in Angers (where I lived) but got it every day in Boston (where I grew up).

There's a lot of stereotypes against French people and while they conform to expectations sometimes, they defy them more often than not.

I can relate to this to an overwhelming degree. by amberamberamberin boston

I usually say Salem since it's so recognizable, though. But I agree, it's easier to just say Boston.

No, this is all wrong. Also, "children should not be allowed on this site"? What?

edit: just so people know what this guy was saying before he edited his post, he posted something like:

As always, feminist cunts are responsible for prohibiting free speech. I fully agree that children should not be allowed on this site. But since our enforcement policies are so fucking hypocritical, it's a ridiculous issue to even pretend to care about justice as a matter of principle. This is all just another feminist exercise in FUCKING PRETENTIOUS SELF-RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION If these pretentious feminist cunts actually cared about children, why aren't they protesting Toddlers & Tiaras where little girls are forced to dress up like sluts? Why do they sexualize young children and then blame men for "rape culture"? Feminism is all about giving women SPECIAL RIGHTS in the name of "equal rights." This is what happens whenever you allow women to have privileges WITHOUT responsibilities. A prime example of this is the mythical wage gap that feminist are always complaining about. But the truth is experts have already disproven this wage gap a billion times over. But feminists are intellectually dishonest. They know full well that women don't work the SAME HOURS as men or work in the same DANGEROUS AND DEMANDING professions as men. Yet they still expect "equality" of outcome. This is fucking bullshit. But feminists will never admit it. Essentially women are allowed encouraged to blame men for the problems created by women.

Then, he messaged me with a link to an embarrassingly hilarious men's rights youtube video

Have you noticed any changes in Lorne Michaels' sense of humor over your time at SNL or has he been pretty consistent? I love seeing the evolution in SNL skits and I'm wondering how much of it is cast/writer turnover and how much is LM's changing tastes.

If it was a "fit of pique" then it was a damn long one at 9 years. Daley said he was closing it in 1994, the city did not renew the lease of the land with the airport, and the only reason it was going to be renewed was strongarming IL legislators with business ties to the private jet owners who used it. Congress didn't approve the renewal so Daley decided to enforce the Federal and Municipal decision with bulldozers.

If you realize it was a 9-year fight with legislators who were defending the top 1% and their right to use an airfield (when there are TWO airports in Chicago) versus Daley who wanted to make a park that everyone can use, it doesn't look like an abuse of power so much as Daley sticking up for the little guy.

My theory is reddit is full of people who played MS flight sim and are addicted to nostalgia and anti-establishment opinions. You probably won't continue to think the bulldozing was a bad idea once you've been to Northerly Island Park and enjoyed the view, so I suggest everyone stop complaining and enjoy what's given to you.

what is it with reddit and the obsession with Meigs field? it's ancient news, nobody cares, we got a sweet park out of it and politics here run much darker and dirtier than "bulldozed without permission."

[–]coupoin 1 point2 points ago

Firstly, because union negotiations center around benefits, so it makes sense to factor that in when you talk about union impact. Also, for everything above minimum wage jobs, benefits are HUGE. If you're getting a salary, the money is good, but the family health insurance, retirement contributions, etc. represent a good percentage of your income. I don't know if you're young, or not American, but health insurance itself is very expensive for a family in the USA.

Literally nothing to do with unions. In fact minimum wage was set up so workers didn't have to rely on collective bargaining to get a fair shake.
