I got to see you at the Touch and Go 25th anniversary when you played with both Big Black and Shellac. That whole experience was pretty incredible, as a fan of underground music from the 80's and 90's it was great getting a chance to see all the bands I loved that stopped performing before I got a chance to see them.

My question is do you have any recommendations for good Chicago area bands either old or new? Another question, are you still against sampling? Against may be too broad of a term but I remember an interview where you seemed to be against it, if I recall it was for technological reasons as well as artistic reasons. Has any of the new technology changed your viewpoint on that?

When I was rather young my family and I were staying together in a very large hotel. My parents told my sister and I to go get ice. I went with her and watched her get ice and for some reason the most fascinating part of this was her pulling a lever to get ice. Before my sister could stop me I grabbed another bucket and pulled the only other lever I could see, which turned out to be a fire alarm.

To this day my family still like to remind me about the time I pulled the alarm and was glared at and referred to as "that fucking kid who pulled the alarm and made me run outside in a towel"(there were other names but that is a good example) by all the people staying in the hotel.

He did a Q&A at the campus in my town and it was hilarious. Some girl brought a script up to him and he read through and completely tore it apart. It was all in good fun and even the girl who gave it to him was cracking up.
