It wasn't an urban pigeon - it was a wood pigeon, therefore not much different from quail or wild chicken.

Several years ago, I decided to take me eldest son (9 months old at the time) for a walk in his stroller. It was a sunny, gorgeous day, and we had a snack to eat at the park we were headed to.

I placed him in his umbrella stroller and stepped outside. As I began to navigate him down the 3 concrete steps I felt a shift in weight, and BAM! 9 month old dropped down 2 steps, face first into concrete. I had forgotten to buckle him in.

I was a teen mom, trying to get through high school and take care of a baby whose father didn't have much interest in sharing the load, but I felt like the worst mom on the planet.

Today, he's 19 and a perfectly normal self-absorbed 19-year-old.

I have to make a special trip to the UK store for crumpets (they're not common here), but I looove them. Wonder if it'd be any good on English Muffins...

Google said to do a layer of butter then a light layer of Vegemite. What else is the stuff good for?

Yes, with a layer of butter as Google directed.

What else can I do with it???

Nononono.

I heard that I am to spread it very very lightly on my toast; so that's how I tried it.

Am I still doing it wrong?

There is a version of this cereal with fruit inside, but in its basic form it's just... wheat!

Vegemite is not something easily found here, but I happen to have some and have been wondering what to do with it since I don't really enjoy the taste. It will go into my next gravy. crosses fingers

We do not have Weet-bix in America. Or anything that looks much like that, to my knowledge.

Would shredded wheat work, I wonder?

Is there a way to get a view of that census sent to me?

Thank you thank you! Maybe his parents died young and there's just no history to have...

Also, thank you very much. I so SO little about my father's family, he doesn't care, and both of his parents have passed on. This means the world to me ... makes me feel connected.

I don't have the names of his parents (that's the info I am looking for), but i do have the following:

Alfred Emery b 1844 in Stone, Staffordshire, England d 1907 in Sydney Australia

Married Emma Bate in 1870 (I have lots of info on her)

Children: William Henry Emery (my ancestor) & several more that I am unsure of names for

I can't find his parents' names or an information on him... It's almost like the entire Emery line is a secret... it's so hard!

I think the only records they have are the ones on personal family trees.

Are you still helping people?

I can trace my GG grandfather (b in Stone, Staffordshire, England, d in Sydney Australia) only that far and cannot find any information about his parents...

If you're willing, I would love to PM you. I know next to nothing about my paternal family, and this journey means a lot to me.
