I'm also curious about how much money you're putting into this, as well as arrangements for power, heating, and the cost of the mod cons.

They're the actor's real tattoos I believe. Anything they mean in the show would have been and after thought.

Thinking about getting this guitar for my first hollow/semi-hollow body. Anyone have any experience with this guitar? Got any better ideas? by MWShenanigans11in Guitar

I had a go on a friend's Artcore, and to be honest, it felt cheap. I'm not too aware of the reasons behind Ibanez love, but out of all the hollowbodies I've tried, Ibanez feel the flimsiest. I'd look into Gretsch, or maybe even an Epiphone Wildkat for price. They did a few funky looking Kats in their 'Kats' range.

Any other White Stripes super-fans out there? My family photo - Kay Hollowbody, Airline reissue and my first electric. by thirdmanseventhsonin Guitar

Surely your Airline repro (Eastwood I assume) is maple? They don't produce Res-O-Glass to my knowledge?

[–]dubbledutch 0 points1 point ago

Not a fan. Dedicated reproductions don't have the same feel as the originals. Same story with Eastwood and the Airline repros. They're made out of maple for a start, so I don't know what they were going for. It's Mosrite original (with the problems and the charm) or nada for me. There's heritage in the brand, from J Ramone, to The Ventures.

Can you explain the Hipshot to me? I can't wrap my head around what it does, but it looks steam-punk as hell. I dig it.

'He said at one point, the lights shut off and he was left in the dark inside the five-by-10-foot windowless cell. He began to hallucinate.'

"I was completely insane,' he said. 'It’s impossible to describe hallucinations like these."

'Mr Chong also ingested a white powder DEA agents said was left in the cell accidentally and later identified as methamphetamine.'

Dubbledutch's Thought For The Day: When trapped in handcuffs and hallucinating, it is always best to avoid ingesting mysterious white powders you find on prison cell floors.

How to get the Jack White solo tone by doktorgonzoin Guitar

[–]dubbledutch 6 points7 points ago

He uses a Digitech Whammy, on the Octave up setting, as well as a 1970's Big Muff he has custom made. The boost comes from the MXR Micro amp, as others have stated. This is then run through a Fender Twin Reverb, and a Silvertone head. Not sure of the model. F-28 or something springs to mind. Either way, it's from the sixties and very fragile. He's criticised sometimes for having everything turned up to full volume. This combined with his spasticated picking technique, is what gives him the choppy, interrupted, solo sound. He also uses upstrokes almost exclusively, and the heavier the pick, the better. Lightweight strings, but he doesn't tend to know, or care, what strings are on the guitar. He leaves it up to the tech. In regards to the Airline, the one he used most had only one working bridge pickup. The pickups are single coil P-90s in humbucker casings, as was the trend with Airlines from that era.
