dont mean to rain on your parade but if you got 15000 as a scholarship, you should spend all of that money on your education, not on a toy bike

reco's for a new bike and comfortable seat? by birthgypsyin whichbike

[–]fingercookie 0 points1 point ago

First thing I ask is, do you used padded shorts? A good pair will probably be cheaper and help you more than buying a new saddle. Second, what kind of bike are you riding? Men's saddles are usually narrower hence the uhm... mashed bits.

Just got rejected from my dream school...any chance CMU will consider an appeal? by tzagin cmu

[–]fingercookie 10 points11 points ago

I have heard about a similar kid like you before. Apparently the admissions office recieved a brown box filled with packing peanuts and before they pulled out what was inside, they saw a little blinking red light...

People flipped out. The building was on lockdown and the bomb squad was called in. Also, the local police where the kid was from were informed and they went to take him from school to the station for questioning. This kid was in deep shit.

So when they finally took out what was in the box, it was just a board with red LEDs arranged in a heart set to blink around a bit. It was his appeal. The kid didn't get in to CMU. So uhh, don't do what that kid did. Good luck though!

Does anyone use the Cyclemeter app? by fingercookiein bicycling

Looks like cyclemeter gives you more detailed info like speed maps and graphs and all sorts of fancy things I probably wont use but Strava is more like a social network.

First ever race. Have not been training. What should I expect? by fingercookiein Velo

[–]fingercookie[S] 1 point2 points ago

Got lapped a bunch but no one crashed. Race officials were nice enough not to pull me. Apparently my handling skills aren't too bad. I was in so much pain but still hungering for more. I'll be doing a collegiate race this weekend in the intro category so I'll have some real instruction on how to race.
