An accurate, easy-to-read list of dos and don'ts on safely dealing with a manic individual. by TotallyRandomManin BipolarReddit

This is super helpful. As am immediate family member of someone with bipolar, I've never found such straightforward advice for dealing with someone in a manic state. You have to be diplomatic and nuanced. Most people don't get that, but this is great.

The only one I'm not so sure about is "You're Not the Police." I have to try SOMETHING if they are going out into a situation that will endanger them. Yes, ultimately you can't control them, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to help them from themselves.

Heading into last year at college. Advice? by BoxcarChildin AskReddit

I hated it when people told me to "network" in college but being able to meet new people really is key post-college. Just practice talking to people -- anybody. People you don't know, people you vaguely know or recognize but have never really talked to. Try talking to people you don't know -- waiting for the bus, in line at whatever, at an event or party. They don't know you so you shouldn't feel pressure to be accepted or be afraid of being judged. You could be anybody, why does it matter what they think of you?! Make a point to talk to someone new everyday -- just force yourself to do it. Pretty soon you'll start to feel more comfortable and it will become easier to engage people. Practice it like you would any other skill.

You should probably read the policy. Or call your insurance company.

You're bound to hit someone (or someone's kid) eventually if you ride on sidewalks consistently.

I agree that bikers obeying traffic laws would go a long way to prevent collisions. BUT, there's no enforcement. Maybe if CPD would actually write tickets for bikers blowing red lights/stop signs and not having a headlight at night, more people would follow the rules. I've been told that cops enforce traffic rules on bikes in Milwaukee, and as a result Milwaukee bikers actually obey traffic laws.

Having said that, I know plenty of responsible bikers who were obeying law and still got hit/doored by irresponsible drivers. So it's not the only solution.

Rough. Seems like doorings range widely in severity. Someone I know took the door corner to her right eye socket, can't see out of that eye now. Seems like the worst is when you get thrown into oncoming traffic -- lucky you didn't get thrown into the path of cars coming up behind you.
