Of course the gap between American productivity and wages is widening. Thats because others are being more productive for less money. Our economy is adjusting to the competition.

"The only logical explanation"???? seriously man? There are many logical explanations. Increasing corporate profits and CEO pay may actually be a factor, but in comparison to the effect that globalization has played for Americans considered "wage earners" - absolutely miniscule.

And "recent phenomenon of super-rich people". You are on crack man! There may be some significant movements in the rich/poor gap and the top billionaires may be getting richer, but this is by no means a recent phenomenon. It sounds like you are buying into some sensationalist news. 100 years ago, the wealth gap was much larger.

Let me know if you want some article links. And also don't take this as an internet pissing contest. I usually just lurk on redditt, but a post as wrong an biased as yours has to at least be presented with the other side.

While I won't disagree with what you said, your assertion that CEOs are gobbling up all the profits from increased productivity is false. People love to find a scapegoat, and it sure is fun to blame rich CEOs, but I can't let such an upvoted post go unchecked.

What happened then? Why aren't wages increasing as fast as they used to? Globalization and a transition to a service based economy. Other countries like India and China are willing to do the work we used to do for much cheaper. That accounts for vastly more dollars NOT in the hands of working class Americans than whatever amount the CEOs have hoarded.

The only thing I dislike about reddit is the anti-corporation bullshit that gets spewed out and blindly upvoted. Sometimes I swear to god, it's like that south park episode, "but the corporations man! It's the corporatioooonnnnnssssssss."

I'm not a developer so I didn't get to read 11.13 - this is a key issue.

As it reads, this means an app cannot be "read only". If this is enforced, bad move Apple!

Perhaps it will be something they backpedal on. It makes no business sense.

But before I joint the riot against Apple, I will wait to see how they enforce the new guideline. It's not the first time Apple has created rules that aren't applied as worded in the guidelines.

We've got a classic example of hive mind panic here. Who has taken the time to actually read Apple's statement? I'm not here to defend Apple, but let's get the facts straight before we get our panties up in a bunch.

The subscription service is completely OPTIONAL. The current method of distribution will be completely unaffected IF the publisher doesn't want to use Apple's service. IF Netflix doesn't wan't to give Apple 30%, they don't have to.

The elimination of using a web-link for new subscribers in-app only applies IF you are using Apple's service. This makes sense.

Also, a publisher can use Apple's subscription service, and still keep 100% of the profit, as long as new subscriber's do so outside of the app (which is they way it works right now).

So the whole panic about prices rising because of Apple is nonsense. Netflix subscription won't change for anyone and they won't loose any profit because all subscriber's have already done so outside of the app.

Apple is "imposing" nothing, nobody is forced to pay 30% to Apple.

when Apple brings a new subscriber to the app, Apple earns a 30 percent share; when the publisher brings an existing or new subscriber to the app, the publisher keeps 100 percent and Apple earns nothing

This is a business model thats been around forever. If you have any experience in the IT industry, a value added reseller does the exact same thing. Nothing is preventing subscribers from purchasing direct from the provider.

Agreed. It's ridiculous to blame outside forces for whatever struggles you are dealing with. You mentioned some of your classmates went on to be successful. Well how come they could do it and not you? Or anyone else for that matter?

It's easy to blame the system. But the system doesn't work in anyone's favor. I guarantee there are plenty of folks from 6b complaining they didn't have the advantages of the elite 6a group and their lack of success is also the "system's" fault.

The grass is always greener on the other side isn't it?

EDIT: Just wanted to add...reddit in general is made of generally intelligent people, but it's most common fault is redditor's tendency to point the finger at someone/something else. Have you ever noticed how much complaining reddit does? The (largely) missing demographic in this community is self-motivated people who don't use anything as an excuse for mediocrity, because these people aren't on their asses all day in front of a computer.
