So there could be a system where the NVIDIA driver will be updated by Windows Update, Steam and the NVIDIA Updater. A hell of version conflicts. Central package managment is really necessary in Windows. You also hate it that everything updates itself, without Windows knowing it.

get an operating system with package management. steam basically is exactly this for windows, since windows does not have it's own.

I suppose you could recognize a voice signal better when the microphone is just a few centimeters away, rather than in another part of the room. The recognition is done in software anyway.

I don't think it is OpenGL that has to do with the NVIDIA 3D Vision compatibility, but the NVIDIA drivers.

Stereo rendering is possible and implemented in a lot of projects.

In Blender Game Engine, you can for example choose different methods of stereo rendering, like anaglyph etc. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.5/Manual/Game_Engine/Camera/Stereo

Ogre3D also has also stereo capability. https://ogreaddons.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/ogreaddons/trunk/stereoscopy/

The Linux NVIDIA drivers support 3D Vision, so you can use it with OpenGL. Maybe this can help:
