Sheriff candidate calls for more 911 dispatcher training by mspazzin 911dispatchers

[–]mspazz[S] 1 point2 points ago

In my opinion he should be calling out the administration and city councils for not giving them the funding to do EMD and provide that level of care. He should NOT be calling out the dispatchers. She did her job exactly as her protocols were stated.

PM Sent, Thank you.

Why doesn't 911 accept texts? Certainly this would help thousands of people in emergency situations who for various reasons are not in the position to communicate their distress vocally. by GreatLookingGuyin AskReddit

We would have to replace our whole 911 system to implement this feature. That is the future or 911, but it's not cost effective. realize this will have a price tag in the millions, even for small centers. Where I work now, we have 7 counties that formed a regional 911 board to offset costs or we wouldn't be able to afford it alone.

Big centers are looking at the tens of millions of dollars to implement texting and next gen 911 features. Surprisingly this isn't all paid for by federal or state grants and programs, the costs are all on the centers themselves.

Taken from an AMA I did about my job as a 911 dispatcher. http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/lncwi/iama_911_dispatcher_amaa/c2u2p0l

"I got a 911 from a 14 year old girl, her mother had just collapsed in front of her from a heart attack. It was the first blizzard of the year, and it was so bad the ambulance could only go three miles an hour they couldn't see at all. The girl and her mom lived 20 miles out of town on a gravel road. The girl had to sit all alone with her mom and just me on the phone talking to her to keep her mind off of it while she waited on help to arrive. If it wasn't a blizzard out they could have saved her."

We have Sleuth right now, it's horrible. We're upgrading our call taking software here from Emergitech(SHIT) to Zetron. meh.

This is why I deny knowledge of EVERYTHING. Even if it's not an active investigation. If someone really want's to know, they can request a copy of the case. It's not my business to tell you anything.

What is it like being a fat person? by novaterrain AskReddit

[–]mspazz 1 point2 points ago

"Am I going to break this chair?" "I wonder if that cool shirt is in my size?" "No, I won't sing Fat Guy in a Little Coat for you." "Cool roller coaster, hope everyone enjoys it while I wait at the exit" "Sir, do you need a seat belt extension?(on a plane)"

Just a few. I don't mind people being assholes to me about it. I just fling shit back at them if they're rude enough to say it to my face.
