Best "under the radar" movies of 2011? by roger_in movies

[–]muiduck 1 point2 points ago

Did you read the book? I loved the book but thought the movie was weak because it didn't adequately show just how clever the main character was as he dealt with each new complication and also didn't show how much he was conflicted by the life he was living.

Apologies if my arguments are a little confused, am drunk.

Which box office failures did you catch in theaters? by [deleted]in movies

[–]muiduck 2 points3 points ago

I had terrible taste when I was younger..

  • Spawn
  • The Crow 2: City of Angels
  • The Craft
  • Tomb Raider (this resent my friend for making me see this)
  • The Cell

On second thoughts, this might just be a bad movies I have seen at the cinema list..

What's the best way to back up multiple servers to tape for off-site storage? by Level_100_Charizardin sysadmin

[–]muiduck 1 point2 points ago

Ntbackup may support dumping AD but I doubt it will support things like grandular restoration of objects etc. I would not use ntbackup under any circumstances based on my experience of it back in the Windows 2000 Server days.. Scheduling, reporting, error handling etc is not up to scratch, you will spend half your time troubleshooting your scripts and praying.

Buy a commercial solution.

No, if your running a domain + exchange etc you need something that understands Active Directory. You want to be able to restore AD objects, Exchange mail stores and all that other stuff. Bare metal recovery is also a great feature to have too.

You will need to go with something proprietary like Commvault.

Linux or Windows?

My personal preference is a single tape unit on a dedicated backup server. In does not have to be fast, just plenty of disk space (cheap SATA disks?) for spooling. In fact you can use something like Rsync + SSH to create hard linked snapshots to reduce the need to retrieve tapes to restore files which have changed some time ago. Easy Automated Snapshot-Style Backups with Linux and Rsync.

Then use something like Bacula or Amanda to write the current snapshots to tape.

inSSIDer is pretty useful for working out which channels you should be using for your WIFI network.

I had a green Sun tech swap a RAID disk on a critical government server with out prior authorization because he thought it would save some time while he did another job.

Needless to say, he didn't last long.

Check out Peel street city for vintage clothes, from memory there was a good one there plus a Salvation Army.

There used to a great one on Grote street also in the city. It may still be there.

And there is a good one on South Road (corner Diagonal) but they deal more with rentals, so you may find not everything you want is for sale.

Maybe not technically a concept album, but QOTSA's Songs for the Deaf is pretty epic and has a great 'radio' theme.
