We're setting up a new tank (actually started the process today) to supplement our 55 gal

in regards to the QT process - yeah, i've actually put a note in the video advising folks NOT to follow my actions. Good advice on putting the QT tank in a viewable area.

i would do at least a 50-75% - washing the filter isn't necessary.

grab a sample of your water before you change it, and take it to your local fish store to have them test it (also, take some tap water to test as well). It's probably very acidic. If it is, you can add a little baking soda to slowly raise the PH to the proper range.

YES - change the water immediately. Be prepared - the other fish may not make it.

i almost guarantee this is PH related.

I lost about 7 fish with the exact same symptoms. The water was way to acidic (reading 6 and below). I had to do a water change and buff the tank with baking soda to get my water where it needed to be.

Heres the thing - you HAVE to act fast if this is what it is. Once my fish started showing these signs, they were gone within 24-48 hours.

I understand what you're saying, but I absolutely LOVE goldfish. I'm not sure many folks understand the variety that can be found in goldfish, or the personalities they can develop. (dont get me wrong, i love tropicals too, but goldfish are just where my heart is)

You're exactly right. As a kid, I would hang out at the comic book shop every weekend with friends. I eventually got into playing the pokemon card game with all the folks at the shop. My mom caught wind of it and discussed it with our pastor. The pastor found a way to slide pokemon into many of his messages, claiming it was a gateway to satanic worship. He eventually pulled me to the side one day after church to have a discussion with me about "the path I was headed down". He explained how video games, pokemon, and quite a few other things were of the devil, and how as a christian I should stay away. The worst part of it all......My mom decided to have a talk with the owner of the comic book shop, telling him how all of these things were of satan.
