I'll still take my chances with fat heavy diets rather than twinkies and corn nuts.

OHP and Olympic Press technique by kabutoin weightroom

[–]poagurt 3 points4 points ago

Unless you're Serge Redding, strict press is probably more advisable, less chance of things going wrong when your OHP doesn't turn into a standing bench press.

Oly lifting: Kono vs. Pendlay by dazolein weightroom

I probably have zero ground to talk about effective oly lifting, but sternum over the bar seems to really help me bump the bar during the third pull.

I facepalmed. Turrrible idea, OP. Keto still works for fat loss if you eat until you're satiated.

What the hell is up with the "body builders" of reddit? They look like hammered shit compared to the guys who posted for the strength training thread.

The level of self-delusion in the HAES community is astounding. Yes, having an overweight or obese BMI is perfectly okay if you're an athlete with significantly more muscle mass than the general population, but not if you're a 250 lb sack of shit.

Implying scientific studies linking overweight children to have cardiac diseases later in life is "pseudo-scientific sensationalism"... It's hard to hear how ridiculous, how absurd that is over the sound of how fat the author is.

This is completely unnecessary. Just grip the toilet seat of your current toilet with your vibrams, squat down, and you're good to go.

Ha, this actually got a laugh out of me. I'm glad he's skeptical about animal fats causing gallstones as they clearly don't. The maladies affecting him and the diet parts seem like very good evidence of what happened when humans switched to an agrarian based diet in the neolithic era.

Fuck that noise. So far I've lost half the skin on my thumbs, but the thumbnail is still intact. The challenge of training hook grip was something to do just because it's their. Grip strength was never a problem, but I want to see how much I can actually hold and so far this is letting me hold more than mixed grip.

4k calories a day of meat and veggies won't ever make you fat because paleo. by SaneesvaraSFWin fitnesscirclejerk

Definitely. I've learned more from his podcasts than I have in actual nutrition classes. Weston A. Price Foundation and Mark's Daily Apple are good sources too.

This is probably like opening Pandora's box, but why are you going vegetarian?

In regards to feeling satiated, carb sources that don't contain a lot of fiber aren't going to make you feel full. The whole wheat bread is pretty much just going to be broken down into glucose which doesn't cause a visceral stretch in your digestive organs the same way broccoli would. I'm not really sure how much fat is in the protein sources you listed, but it's the hormone leptin (found in fat) that makes you feel full, not the actual protein.

Great article. Deathlift Program 1 is amazingly similar to how I got 500 for the first time. I'm in the same boat as you are right now, just hammering the shit out of squats to try and raise it as fast as possible. You mentioned somewhere, I think, that you didn't really care for banded speed deadlifts. Any reason why that was? I ask because it seemed like not doing deads for a few months made the movement seem stale when I pulled at my meet and I've found I can do them pretty frequently at about 50-65% of 1RM and still squat well the next day. Locking out is never a problem, so rack pulls don't get done that often, but the speed pulls seem to keep the motor patterns fresh for moving off the floor, which I struggle at.

I tried applying the "doing them a lot will reduce the pain" logic to doing hook grip. The other day I tried heavy shrugs with hook grip because I'm too cheap for straps. Only got up to 405 for a few singles before I had to stop. Once the skin on my hands grow back I'll try it again with more chalk.
