Apologies if this is the wrong place but could anyone from Maryland could advise me... by scriff1985in Guitar

Craigslist, for sure. I just moved from Maryland, I was looking for a guitar teacher 6 months ago. Here's what I learned...

  • if you can teach at the student's house (travel to where they are), you'll get 10 times the business.

  • your biggest market, when you're starting out, is kids & teens.

  • charge at least $20/half hour. It seems to be the going rate. Don't take less, you could probably get $25 & work out some kind of discount for bulk purchases.

  • post more than one ad on craigslist. You'll notice that the people who post, do so every couple days.

  • don't sweat the IRS stuff

Good luck!

Listen to this: chordr...r...r.

Think about it. You walk into a video store, you see chordrr sittin' there, there's chordrrr right beside it. Which one are you gonna pick, man?

What does Guitarrit think of the Agile guitars sold by Rondo music? by oddrobotgamesin Guitar

I'll add my 2 cents. If you choose a Les Paul copy (AL2000, 3000, etc), be forewarned that you are entering into the world of ten pound guitars.

I know, it doesn't seem a lot when you think it's only 10 pounds. Believe me, it's a very heavy instrument. I never thought it would be a factor until I bought one, I laughed at people who warned me. Now I'm telling you.

These are really well made, they look and feel like they're high quality. I prefer the Agile over the Epiphones I've played. You seriously can't go wrong with the price, but know that they are ten damn pounds!

Fur sure. This Oasis humidifier really is great. You fill it with water, put it between the strings while in the case, set it and forget it! Be careful not to over-humidify, a good rule of thumb is to use it while the furnace or heat is on in your house. If you're fortunate enough to live in a warm region, check with your local shop if you need to use one. By the Art&L & Seagull choices, I'm assuming you're a fellow Canadian!

Check around, usually these are sold at local shops around the $20 price. Totally, totally worth it if you're planning on keeping your instrument.

Agreed. You're going to happy either way. Promise us you'll buy a humidifier and actually use it!

DAE get annoyed by how hardware orientated this guitar subreddit is? Very little talk about actual playing and guitar "music" by DexDarkin Guitar

I've started to post "what to play" suggestions like this bad boy right here. I'm really hoping this catches on and more people recommend great songs to listen to and learn.

Each suggestion post contains the song's youtube link and a tab link if it's available. I'm also trying to describe why I chose the song, who it's aimed at (beginners or advanced), features of the song, good for acoustic or electric, tips on how to play, etc. The goal of these posts is to get good suggestions onto the pages of r/guitar and hopefully get some in return. All submissions are "self" posts, so it's not about the karma.

So if you have a good suggestion, any genre, any level, and you think the r/guitar family would benefit, please post a [Song Suggestion]! If you dislike this idea, that's cool, I'm frequently making bad calls (ask my children!) Exercise your god given right to downvote me! But if you have something to add, I'd love to see any comments you have.

On a final note, yes there are a ton of hardware posts... but this is still my favourite guitar site!

Hey mujen, I'm late to the party but I have a good one. My suggestion is to get on the floor. I think my greatest moments as a Dad were spent with my kids on the floor... playing, comforting, whatever. Just get on the floor. Strangely, you'll find yourself thinking, "I gotta interact with that kid", (I know it sounds stupid, but it happens). When you're wondering what to do, just get on the floor. There, I said it 4 times. Really, it'll solve a lot of problems and make you feel great as a Dad. Go wear some holes in your jeans, man.
