Just use less weight. You lack the coordination? You've only been lifting for a month! You're not going to perfect a complicated movement in such a short time. Maybe you should stop watching DVDs and reading books - spend some time in the gym and learn.

This guy doesn't have a leg, and he lifts just fine. [1] [2]

When I initially read his comment, I assumed that he meant barefoot squatting in general, which he didn't.

It's just so hard to find shoes that feel as comfortable and as just being in socks, I'd go completely barefoot, but rather not contract any sort of foot fungus.

I feel pretty stable in my socks, and never really had a problem with them. (They're tight/thin) Also my gym floor is pretty rough.

I'll look into lifting shoes though, thanks.

Is squatting without shoes really that big of a deal? I mean, what are the downsides? My apologizes, but without any explanation and multiple contradicting opinions from a quick google search, I'm not so sure if that's true. If you could elaborate more, that would be a big help.

Yeah, looking at the video again I definitely need to widen my stance a bit.
