For the record (I'm an English teacher): The former is known as a "mass noun"; the latter as a "count noun".

Technically, "fewer" is correct, since — as you point out — items can be counted. However, that's only according to the dictates of prescriptive grammar (the kind found in textbooks). According to descriptive grammar (how people actually speak), so long as the meaning is clear, either is fine.

This is funny, but — and yeah, I know, it would require lots of extra programming that most people would never interact with — it would be so much better if he got progressively more annoyed with you, until he finally punched you and then got taken to prison and then plotted revenge and hunted you down and etc.

During the so-called Golden era You had everyone from Poor Righteous Teachers to Paris to 3x Dope to Gang Starr to Public Enemy all rocking Malcolm samples..I recall when KRS One mimicked the infamous Malcolm X pose where he was holding a gun looking out the window, ready to protect himself after his home had been firebombed. Many say KRS kicked things off when he featured Malcolm X in his My Philosophy video … I miss those days..
