TROPHY CASE

Calls that altered the MNC by archie_fin CFB

As a born-and-raised Husker fan and TCU alum and diehard, that night about killed me. First, the football. Then, the alcohol/coping.

This kind of blew my mind. by timidnoshingin community

I am indeed judging BBT by only a few episodes and comparing it to Community, of which I've seen every episode a few times. Glad to hear they've evolved Penny to some degree, though I will say that the show is marketed as, "Look at this dumb ho bag living near these nerds!" There's more than one way to exploit an archetype.

I agree with that a little, but it's not as if they made her into the girl on Big Bang Theory or a ditzy Phoebe from Friends. Her "dumbness" is a lot more nuanced and based on a lack of self awareness and an inflated sense of importance more than just sheer idiocy.

Aaron Green to transfer. by LookARedSquirrel84in Huskers

If we had to lose one of the three, I'm glad it's Green (and not Abdullah) but this still sucks. Green had some different abilities, and plus we're hurting for depth. This means Cross would have to be that much more ready, and that means we're starting over with another true freshman in line for playing time. I'd like to see us get a little deeper at RB, especially in case (GOD FORBID) Rex got hurt.

I think both will. Marrow's been working at a sort of hybrid RB/FB role, though at FB he'd be competing with CJ Zimmerer (I think) who has a couple years under his belt. Marrow might see some looks as a 3rd Down bruiser though, maybe hoping to get Rex out of those situations.

As for Heard, he has to move back, right? I hope so, we need him at RB more than at corner, especially with JUCO Mo Seisay coming in and Charles Jackson finally qualifying.

Best player left going into day 3? by elfonziin nfl

[–]steponcharlie 1 point2 points ago

Mostly because he was injured a majority of last year, and didn't perform all that well in the first four games. A lot of that was due to Nebraska losing most of its secondary, putting more pressure on Crick when QBs found open WR's more quickly and easily.

Anyway, yes. This man is a beast, and totally underrated. I think he's a steal for Houston.

[–]steponcharlie 0 points1 point ago

Definitely. He's also a Miami native (I think) so he's coming back to Florida, which is great.

Additionally, you never know about the character of any of these guys, but I've never seen anything to make me believe David has any issues there. Super nice guy, fine in his interviews, etc. I think you're getting a franchise staple.

I'm not a Tampa fan, but congrats on this one. I'm a huge Husker fan and you couldn't have gotten a better LB than Lavonte. He was a JUCO transfer here, and absolutely blew away expectations. Not sure how much you've all seen him play, but he is incredibly athletic, smart and a really sure tackler. He pretty much own the Penn State game for us this year by stuffing ball carriers at the line on 3rd & short and 4th & short of their final drive.

Anyway, good luck. We'll be watching and cheering him on from Nebraska, can't wait to see what he does.

Husker fan here. I think you got a steal on that one (yes, I'm biased). LOVE Crick. He's an angry, angry bastard. I like the Texans so I'm looking forward to seeing him play down there.

What's your favorite memorial stadium pick? by quickeeein Huskers

[–]steponcharlie 1 point2 points ago*

Fuck and yes. But my friend, if you're gonna link to that video, go all out and link to The Kick and Pick.

Edit: if you've never heard the Husker Radio call of that kick, it's so much better than the National one.

Edit 2: And the Husker Radio call of Suh's pick.

Sorry, I just loved the last two minutes of that game more than anything in the world.

Suck. Did you at least score some free concessions? Also, you can use your Spring Game ticket to get into a baseball game, which I strongly recommend. Haymarket Park on a nice Sunday afternoon is tough to beat.

Ugh, it was just a mess here yesterday. Lightning storms, torrential downpour, Bo Pelini standing on top of Memorial Stadium cursing out God...

I totally hear you, but understand that local media aren't the gatekeepers for this stuff like they used to be. With the way media is structured now, average fans have access to "some writer from New York" and local media is (somewhat) forced to report on it.

Anyone else feel disappointed by the deus ex machina that ended Troy and Abed's fight? by TardisLights22in community

That's a really good point about remaining true to format, hadn't thought of that.

[–]steponcharlie 1 point2 points ago

Right! They could've still had Abed tell him to go get them out of the Dean's office, but then just show it happening. Just a bit of a see-say that kind of took me out of the moment.

[–]steponcharlie 10 points11 points ago

I completely agree. Liked the ending, but I wish it wouldn't have been such a black and white transition into happiness for them.

Also, I wish they wouldn't have telegraphed everything with Jeff getting the hats. Just have Annie say what she says about "a nice touch" but show Jeff, without his voiceover, going in and retrieving the hats. Maybe he runs into the Dean and says something about them being for Troy and Abed. But the way that had Jeff narrate his own epiphany just bothered me a bit.

That said, one of the overall funniest episodes they've ever had.
