I take that as a good thing?

I'm a little confused. Let's see if I got this right ... I identified the model of the car wrong and it's actually an Arc. The Arc has a 2.0t and, in your opinion, actually is more fun?

I've found an '04 R that I'm going to go look at tomorrow. How bad is their MPG?

I found an '04 R for about the same price. I'm a little concerned since that's just a year younger than my Lancer, but I've looked around on this reddit and everyone seems to be in love with their Rs.

Interested in becoming an EMT-B. Advice appreciated. by White_Knightsin ems

[–]swinebone 1 point2 points ago

If you're in St. Louis--as it seems--PM me. That's my hometown and I have a ton of info for you.

I'd also recommend Abbott EMS' program. They're a private ambulance company that has all of the major contracts in the metro area. All of their EMTs and medics are very professional and I've heard good things about their school. Might be more expensive than STLCC though.

I think I about pissed my pants during that penalty kick.

It's actually surprisingly friendly. I'm sitting by two Bayern fans and have been talking about the match.

Still doesn't change the fact that Drogba's a beast. Cech, though, has been showing his colors as one of the best goalies in the sport.

I'm in a Chelsea fan at a local Irish bar. I think I'm surrounded by Bayern fans and I doubt I'll have any fingernails left after this game.

The other Chelsea fans and I keep on sharing anxious glares across the bar. Ugh.

Place to Watch the Champions League Final? by swinebonein Louisville

[–]swinebone[S] 0 points1 point ago

I'll probably end up going to the Mollys on Shelbyville since that's closer to many of my friends, whom I'm trying to get to go. If they suck, though, I'll check out the one on Baxter.

Have fun at the wedding while secretly checking the score on your phone. Up the Blues!

What do you think about Louisville cops? Really? by NunnSonin Louisville

[–]swinebone 0 points1 point ago

I've had many opportunities to work with the LMPD because of my field of work. By and large, my experiences with them have been positive and they have acted professionally.

I've been pulled over twice in KY so far, once by a state trooper for expired tags and another by a LMPD highway enforcement officer in a Mustang. The state trooper was really cool, even taking the time to explain to me how to get the citation dismissed. The other incident wasn't as cool, as even though I was speeding he pulled me over about a hundred feet after a speed limit change. Seriously, what is up with the LMPD and undercover cars?

Core has its share of idiots too. They offer BJJ and Krav Maga classes along with boxing and wrestling, if I remember correctly. They may also still have some kettle bell programs. It's a pretty good gym and seems well taken care of. I'd attend myself if I wasn't a poor grad student.

My first day of Grad school is tomorrow ... by cremedelachrissin GradSchool

[–]swinebone 1 point2 points ago

At least in my field, writing skills are a must. You don't need to be Shakespeare, but if you're a little sketchy on your grammar, spelling, etc., be sure to take advantage of your school's writing center. It can go a long way.

My strengths in writing for grad school is pretty much the only plus to my English BA at this point.

I ordered an X220 in late July 2010, and got it in early September. A month or a little longer seems to be the average.

If I remember correctly, CORE Louisville has a boxing program. I checked out the place a year or two ago, and would totally attend if I earned more money. I think they're pretty expensive.

I'm pretty sure you're referring to the Bats game this previous Friday. They had fireworks after the game set to a couple of the Black Keys' songs.

17 M here, with a romantic interest in a 20 F coworker but I am shit-clueless as to what I'm doing. by mikey_b_23in dating_advice

I had figured she'd fallen asleep, so I just started rubbing her stomach and the back of her hand with my hand and thumb respectively.

Wait. You thought she was asleep, so you started rubbing her stomach? That's rather creepy.

Out of nowhere she turned to me, pulled me close, and we started making out. It lasted awhile, and then I got my fingers into her vagina. It all culminated in her finishing a handy on me, and then we spooned for sleep.

I'm an awful kisser (that was my first time)

So you fingered a girl and got a handjob the first time you were kissed? Dude, you've apparently done better than most people. Forget about dipping your toe in...

and is now claiming that her second job (which she got accepted at TODAY!) is probably going to prevent her from going to the banquet

How far away is the banquet? If it's within a week or two, it's quite possible that her boss made up a schedule for her today and she works the day of your banquet. Considering it's a new job, she probably doesn't want to ask off so early.

Honestly, it sounds like you're overthinking everything. Chill out. Have fun with her, and if it works out it works out. If she doesn't want to or can't go to your banquet, ask out another girl. Trust me, they won't bite. Usually.

Psychological Leadership: Why are few or no psychologists in higher leadership positions at homeless shelters, where huge populations with psychological disorder live? by PsyZHundredthoughtsin psychology

[–]swinebone 5 points6 points ago

While we're on the topic, why are you singling out homeless shelters? The same problems could be argued to exist in environments such as prisons, where a massive percentage of the population have some sort of substance abuse or mental health issue, often comorbid.

In short: psychologists often aren't in leadership positions in institutions like prisons and homeless shelters because those positions don't pay well. At all. Most people with PhDs and PsyDs have a ton of student debt to pay off.

[–]swinebone 6 points7 points ago

It's possible, sure. But issues surrounding mental health have always had a stigma against them. Personally, I believe that it's because mental health problems are an "invisible" disease and therefore easy for people to discredit.
