Anybody else feel this way about the weather? by taylornator7in Calgary

[–]taylornator7[S] 0 points1 point ago

I actually like it like this, I wasn't complaining. If only we could get weather like this for 3 solid weeks, then we wouldn't have to worry about pine beetles ruining our forests

As a last gift, ex wants me to throw another house party. by cabbagehaterin Calgary

If I am in town, I will definitely be there.

Why is Silver Anti-Bacterial? by halogen1212in askscience

[–]taylornator7 6 points7 points ago

They are definitely talking about particle sizes, and it does need some clarification. Size certainly does make a difference, and is the whole basis behind Nanoscience. In a very, very generalized nutshell, Nanoparticles of a substance can act and react differently than the same substance in the macro-scale.

[–]taylornator7 23 points24 points ago

Although you are completely correct with being careful around the whole "Silver Homeopathy" trend going on, Colloidal silver can also mean silver nanoparticles in solution. Within the Nanotechnology/Nanoscience communities these two terms are very interchangeable, and suspended gold nanoparticles are often referred to as colloidal gold. In my Nanoscience Minor I had to write a report on the Anti-microbial effects of Nanosilver, and a quick Science Direct Search, brings up hundreds of peer-reviewed papers on the subject.

Here is one example of a paper that has both Colloidal and Nano in the title: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0927776511005388

May I be Shallow for a moment? by this-is-stupidin AskMen

When I look at a woman's body, I use my own body as a base level fitness comparison. I'm not the most fit guy, but not un-fit at the same time. To have some wild expectation of a woman's physique, while not having the same male-equivalent expectations about my own would be hypocritical. Also, this doesn't mean other non-physical aspects of the person can't sway my attraction to them.

As for the general male population... If I have learned anything about the Human race, it's that we are more like animals than we would like to believe. If there isn't an initial physical attraction, then it won't work out. That goes for men and women alike.

Hey r/Brisbane, Want to meet a Canadian Redditor? by taylornator7in brisbane

I'd Like to give a big thanks to everyone that showed up. I do apologize for leaving abruptly at Manabar, but like Pinkbits was saying there was somebody we had to get away from rather quickly. I'm still in Brisbane tonight, but I don't think I'll be doing anything. I should be back in Australia come Aprilish.

So just an update for everyone, the meetup is tonight and I'll be there with a reddit T-shirt on. I am planning on being there between 8 and 9 pm, but will most likely show up closer to 9. To all those socially awkward penguins thinking of going, PLEASE show up... I don't want to be a forever aloner, and it'll be super fun.

I Can see it now,

Plans a reddit meetup....No one shows up. So show up.

See you guys then.

Took a look at the bands playing tonight and their music styles. I like punk, but all of them are death metal (for the most part), which I'm not too into, so I don't know if it'll be worth the entry fee...

Many upvotes for HAWCS by Fedorek68in Calgary

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

the HAWC's are fairly quiet, you're probably thinking of the STARS air ambulance if you live by the foothills hospital (you mentioned U of C and Market Mall both very near foothills). STARS is very loud, but I support them fully regardless. the STARS comes in at least once a day. I very rarely see a HAWC's helicopter.

moon probably looked a lot bigger to you than the photo. but that's just a trick your brain is pulling on you, since the moon is close to the horizon.
