Oh This is Sweet: Senate Banking Investigation of JPMorgan to be Headed by Former JPMorgan Lobbyist by Mind_Virusin politics

[–]thebryanator -1 points0 points ago

Try not to confuse a democratic republic and mob rule, I think you can see the difference when it comes to the issue of gay marriage and marijuana.. And if the majority often make the "wrong choice", as you or I see it, doesn't that mean perhaps it would be best if everyone did right by themselves and not try force their wrong decisions on everyone else? And again you bring up the "orphan disease", if you're concerned about it, in a proper, free, liberty-loving society you could start a wonderful non-profit and help provide funding for that disease. The reason that pharmaceuticals are crazy expensive in the first place is because of government regulation, certification, and monopolies granted by government to pharmaceutical companies through insane patent law.

I pose this question for you, do you plan for me for do I plan for you? I'd rather groups of concerned citizens got together, planned, and solved problems in their community, not wait for a bureaucrat to figure it out for them.

Do you know what "at gunpoint" means? I don't think it means what you think it means.

Try not paying your taxes, and I think you'll know exactly what it means, just like this couple from Connecticut did.

The most "efficient" government would be one that does absolutely nothing. Obviously, it's not just efficiency we're after.

The government has plenty to do, and that's to protect it's citizens from force. Whether it's force from another foreign country, a corporation, or each other. Either that or I'm not sure you know what efficiency means.

For example, I don't want to cut funding for research on orphan diseases that are not profitable enough to be adopted by a pharmaceutical company.

So I have a question for you, who decides whats worth funding and whats not? I don't want my money going to Israel or to kill farmers in Afghanistan, but because we have given the government massive amounts of power to determine what it does with our money, I have no choice in the matter. Just a how many conservatives don't want their tax dollars to go to Planned Parenthood. Here's an idea, instead of the money that would've been taken from me in tax dollars, I could just donate it to the Red Cross, or any other cause I fancy. I'm happy because my money went to something I think is worthy of it and it didn't take a bureaucrat in Washington to make me give it away. Win, win.

Actually you'd be pretty damn bad at your "job" if all you did was lounge by the pool and read books. Taking power away from government doesn't mean that elected officials, bureaucrats, etc have less to do, it means there are less of them. A lot less of them. And then all that wonderful tax money that was taken from you at gunpoint that would've gone into their pockets stay with you, and you can choose to do with it as you please. Americans already donate a hefty amount to various charitable causes, who's to say some of that money that would've been used for some government project boondoggle wouldn't of gone to better use in Africa, given by a caring American with more money in their pockets so they can decide where their money goes. I'm sick of paying for wars, welfare handouts, and aid to Israel, but I don't have a choice in paying for it. You and should be able to choose where and how much of our money goes.

Improving government means less of it. It's like any machine, the less parts to it, the more reliable and efficient it will be.

True, it's not the only reason. Government licensing is also an incredibly massive obstacle to a properly free market, John Stossel did a great video on how difficult it is just to open a lemonade stand which shows how not just government favoritism inhibits free competition, but also government enforced standards and practices. If we eliminated the massive obstacles entrepreneurs face in starting a business, competition would reign in big business power. And only those businesses that were successful in navigating the free market demand, not who can pay off the right congressman, would succeed.

Because when government has no power, there is no favoritism or cronyism capable of happening.

What is your stance on the Federal Reserve? Should we abolish it, reform it, keep it the way it is?

What is your stance on the bailouts as well?

I'm sure she does a lot of great work, my GF has watched a few of her videos. My point is that some people take other people's advice to seriously, the loudest voice in your head should be your own ya know?

Well the first step is recognizing that someone else has a negative influence over your life, which is a big accomplishment and shows that you're a strong person that is self aware, so you're already better than probably 3/4's of people. My brain is the same way, except I grew up as a male under an overbearing mother, so I feel your situation. Bottom line: live your life, we're all beings on a tiny blue marble hurtling through space, so don't let "the man" and little things get you down. I'm sure even Hugh Jackman and Megan Fox have insecure moments. Congrats on being human! ;)

Because men and women have different brain chemistry and structure, therefore you write typically with your gender.

I'm going to give you a phrase that worked for me really well; "Because FUCK that guy, that's why." There's a whole world of idiots out there and unfortunately some of them become parents, you got a shitty deal and that sucks, but it's the way it is. If he makes you feel like crap, don't be around him. Don't talk to him. Don't let him be apart of your life. Why? Because FUCK that guy, that's why. Go live your life, and get rid of the bullshit that holds you down, you sound like a solid gal to me.

The internet isn't the greatest place for sex advice. And honestly, who gives a shit? All I hear is a bunch of women worrying about other people judging them, fuck that. Don't listen to this Lacy chick or the one that criticized her, do what you want! Sex isn't complicated and as long as you use protection, have as much or as little and wherever or however you want. It's sex, it shouldn't be a political or social statement, it should be fun.
