The interesting part of the article IMO is the part about the US... he seems pretty optimistic about the US economy, surprisingly so.

do you have a recommendation for a more accurately translated bible, or one that at least addresses some of these issues? it's quite remarkable to think that some people have based there lives around something that could very well be a confusing translation or worse, erroneous.

Two Americans traveling to Berlin, any beer recommendations? by paganorin berlin

[–]thedaveoflife 0 points1 point ago

if you can manage to schedule a tour of the Berliner Kindl Brewery I highly recommend it. 1.5 hrs of unlimited tasting for all the German styles, including Berliner Weiss.

Otherwise, just hit up a cafe, sit outside and order a pils... doesn't get much better than that. If youre looking for a good beer garden to enjoy, try Prater in prenzlauer berg (the have their own brew) and Golgatha in Kreuzberg (in viktoriapark, they have lowenbrau and erdinger weissbeir)

I see a frequent misunderstanding, and will let William Sharpe address it for me: "Properly measured, the average actively managed dollar must underperform the average passively managed dollar, net of costs." Simple but powerful truth. by misnamedin investing

I think Sharpe is saying also that deviations from the mean are due largely to luck rather than skill or extraordinary forecasting ability.

The Welfare Reforms of the late 90s reduced the dependency issue of food stamps. It's now one of the more efficient social redistribution programs we have. Not that it's perfect, but if you are on food stamps, you probably are going through a rough time and need/deserve some assistance.

I wouldn't be surprised for them to prop up the price for another month or so.... there's a lot of lay investors with short positions based on what the read in the news and what they know about the company and its revenue. Institutional investors are going to find a way to screw those people over.
