[PF] Starting out as a wizard. How can I be the most combat effective early on? by Spysixin rpg

[–]torniz 1 point2 points ago

You know, I never though of it that way, but it's a good point. I always went with Magic Missile early because, it's an auto hit deal, and means that I wouldn't have to worry as much about firing into melee penalties(even though it's a touch attack). Certainly is a different spin on the idea.

Metamagic feats enhance spells at the cost of making them effectively higher level spells(like a Maximized Magic missile would be take a level 5 spell slot, because preparing a Maximized spell takes up a spell slot 4 levels higher than normal.)

I use axe. I like a couple of the scents. I don't drown myself in in though. People who drown themselves in Axe body spray have ruined it for everyone.

[Pathfinder] - Is there an item or feat that gives a player the "Grab" special ability? by Suryiin rpg

[–]torniz 1 point2 points ago

You mean that allows you to attempt a grab/grapple on an attack? Check out the style feats, believe it's Snapping Turtle that eventually allows for grappling on a hit.

My mom's mentally challenged neighbor's house burned down. All he has in the world are 4 cats, here is a firefighter saving one. by lfernandesin pics

[–]torniz 0 points1 point ago

Smaller communities usually have them, as it's easier to maintain than a full force.

My father in-law served as one in my wife and I's until he got way to old for it. The had 2 paid fire fighters per shift, plus 2 or 3 companies of volunteers. All the surrounding towns had similar systems, using either pagers to alert them or, in the case of one town, a load horn that could be heard everywhere in the town(I think they've switched to pagers now though.)

Of course, it's not a huge deal. If it doesn't happen, the idea is that this guy would have been following them for some time.

EDIT: To add, following them and studying them. It's going to be a throwaway encounter, the more I think, the more I think it will lead into a lycan infestation.

No doubt. My idea is to do this at a low enough level that whoever is on watch can be affected a sleep spell. Bounty hunter could have a level of wizard or sorc to get it off.

An NPC hog-ties party as they sleep in camp out in the wild, wakes them all up once everyone is secured, and explains he's a bounty hunter there to take them in. But then the full moon comes out, and the bounty hunter begins to change, as confused and scared as the party as he transforms into a lycanthrope.

I'm 17 and my mom just technically abandoned me. Is there anything I need to know that can help me. by zzenterin AskReddit

[–]torniz 14 points15 points ago

If you're on the insurance you might have issues with major medical stuff like surgeries, but just going to see your doc shouldn't be a problem.

I know when I was able to drive my self, I was going to my physicals alone and my parents didn't need to be there.

I'm sure by calling the state's healthcare program you can have a new copy of the card sent out. Just explain the situation to them, explain that DFS has given you the OK to live on your own for now and you need your health insurance card in case anything happens.

EDIT: Or, lie to them, tell them your Mom lost the card and you need a new copy, but she's been busy with work or something to call.

Who knows what a pathologist does and/or their role in healthcare? by t1l3roin AskReddit

[–]torniz 0 points1 point ago

I had a mole sent to a pathologist on Monday. Statiscally speaking, how often do multi-colored moles off 27 yo guys came back with cancer type results. Are there are types of diseases that could cause it?

I realize I should have asked my doc about these things, but I'm an idiot.

I doubt this will get noticed at this point but whatever.

Working in radio, pronunciation is key. One time, we had a caller from Assonet(Pronouced Ah-so-net). Well, when the host announced the caller and were they were calling, it came out as "Harry from ASS-SNOT"

Thank god I had 10 seconds before having to press the dump button, because it took me about 8 seconds to recover from the shock of that mispronounciation.

Pathfinder: on the topic of screens, which is better? The pathfinder screen or the DND screen. Is the informaiton interchangeable? by DownvotesGetMeHornyin rpg

[–]torniz 1 point2 points ago

I have the Pathfinder screen, and it's got most skill tables in it, as well as some really general information on a few conditions. I don't recall what's on the 3.5 screen entirely, but I think it had gear tables and such that I found somewhat useless. If I need to know gear values, I'm not working on the fly usually.

Yeah, pretty much. I hate inconveniencing people with my problems. It was bad enough that this happened on the way home from a Valentines Day date with my wife.

During my hospital stay, my wife had to continue our normal life, getting our son on the bus, working here job, so the nurses were my lifeline. They could relay information to my doctors when I either couldn't explain exactly how I was feeling(either because I was on pain meds or feeling really sick), or relay information about my condition I simply didn't know.

They also had to clean up when I got sick from both ends literally all of the rooms small bathroom. That.... was.... terrible. I felt horrible.

Indeed, thank you to nurses.

My former gall bladder will as well. Came in having a gall bladder attack, they sat me down. I was frustrated by that, but understood. It wasn't an immediate threat- until breathing became painful. Then they got me in to a room as soon as they could, clearing the next bed for me. I was so appreciative, because the last thing I wanted to do was be a bother to them.

How to stop the "Me too!" attitude to perception checks [DnD] by Kaleschein rpg

[–]torniz 1 point2 points ago

2 thoughts here.

In most D20 systems, you should be figuring out "passive" perceptions(10+ their Perception Modifier). Use this to determine what they see when they enter a room and add it to your initial description.

Active checks shouldn't be "I make a perception check," the should be "I'll look around for anyone trying to hide in ambush" or "I check the door for traps." Get your players into dictating actions to you over dictating rolls to you. Only after they tell you what they are doing should you ask for a roll.

Also, anyone who makes a perception roll with the "me too" attitude, should be forced into an assist, providing a +2 to the main check as long as they beat the DC(10 for 3.5 and Pathfinder, 10+ half level for 4th).
