Especially this seams to be good advice. What is your experience on this?

...if you put an unknown element into a web page, by default the browser will just treat it like a <span>...

Most of the HTML5 elements we have looked at in this article are supposed to behave like block elements, therefore the easiest way to make them behave properly in older browsers is by setting them to display:block; in your CSS:

article, section, aside, hgroup, nav, header, footer, figure, figcaption { display: block; }

I really found this article useful as I'm playing around with my first theme for WordPress and I want it to be HTML5 ready. Getting the structure right up front is essential...

I'm amazed about how hot this topic is! Then again... most of us spend several hours either using browsers or struggling making it easy and a good experience for others. Looking back 10 years I recall this topic was just as hot then, and the trouble we were facing a lot worse... it was before we got proper standardization of css, html, tools like jQuery... and all browser vendors (including Microsoft) wanted to invent new fancy stuff to eat the others and this just made it all worse...

Scissors Continued looks pretty cool, even though I use Windows Writer and have the cropping feature there.

Has anyone ever heard of CakePHP? And if so is it any good. I stumbled upon it and I figure I'll try it out. by New_Wavin web_design

I have no experience with cakePHP, but I know there are tons of frameworks available. E.g. see this resource. http://www.tripwiremagazine.com/2009/08/loads-of-essential-php-tools-resources-for-web-developers.html
