To my fellow muslim Indians here, what is your background/ancestry and where in India are you from? by bobloblawblablain india

Oh man. A very eloquent paragraph there, undone by the last line. I was poised to upvote when I saw that.

Now you know why some of us go over to the dark side. That last line.

That's interesting - 11 downvotes. Even assuming normal Reddit auto downvote fakery (which I have not seen on threads which no one has a problem with) it says something!

'Middle class ghettos' spreading in India: On the outskirts of Delhi, Gurgaon is archetypal of the new middle class ghettos sprouting all over the country: a disorganized gated community of luxury condos, shopping malls and golf courses missing basic infrastructure and public spaces. by marcussantiagoin india

Delhi proper itself is extremely unsafe compared to places with people out on the streets.

Gurgaon is just taking it to another level.

Have you lived in Bombay? You need to spend a month there, and then you know what the protection of the crowd means. Very difficult to understand otherwise. I am quite comfortable in Delhi or Gurgaon, but I have lived in Bombay - and the difference is very easy to sense. It comes from the people out on the street. In Gurgaon, after dark, I rarely see people walking on the street - say not even 1 % of what you see anywhere in Mumbai if you go off the main roads in any direction. Apartments are islands, with just a cigarette shop or two outside. The loneliness if you walk on the street is weird. It is a car-to-mall city like Dubai - which is precisely what this article says.

Bombay too has gated communities, but much fewer. Even then, the difference is that Bombay (or most of Delhi) has a street life. In Gurgaon, life is inside the gate - there is almost nothing outside. when life gets inside the gates, criminals take over the streets. This is standard practice.

In Bombay where I would stay, there would be families out walking with their kids at 11 PM, with little bicycles and all. And streets were safe till 2-3 AM. When people go inside, trouble goes outside.

Sorry man. You have a good idea, but ruined it by treating it as if each item was a chapter. Flowcharts are not articles.

Haha. Da guts to post it on /r/india, even considering our admittedly low standards these days.

r/India, how much do you think looks matter in life? by rahul4realin india

[–]wanderingmind 2 points3 points ago

Looks do matter but real confidence makes up for it in many cases. And once in a situation, confidence often works better than looks. Now if your confidence is based on your looks or lack of it, you have a problem :D

If you are female, looks matter (but great looks, I have read, cost you jobs, HR doesnt want trouble) more.

Beautiful people are generally also known to have bad relationship experiences when they are with someone equally beautiful.

Everything here is a guess dear.

You really believe anything any of us say here is a hard fact? Most of the time it is not. I have met enough specialists in the topics we talk about here to know that we - the generalists on reddit - know practically nothing.

Meet a political reporter who writes in support of Congress. He will tell you worse things about the Congress than the angry internet hindu here. Meet a reporter from the Pioneer, and he will tell you worse things about BJP than any Caangressi.

I have heard amazing but very credible stories about politicians, bureaucrats, parties, religious leaders because I operate in a crowd.

We. Know. Nothing. Everything we say is a guess. That does not need to be specifically mentioned every time.

I have said it here before. My impression of Modi is formed by watching him and his behaviour during Gujarat riots on Tv and by mediapersons who were in Gujarat. I believe what I think about him, but does it make it a fact? Definitely not.

You or someone else may believe that 1984 was done by the Congress. It may or may not be true, but it is not a fact. Yet.

We are only arguing over our respective impressions.

Everyone here sounds like a kid to me, frankly. me? Me too. I lose it pretty fast when I see the certainty of the 18-25 year old and come to that level too. This place frankly might be seriously improving the intellectual level of a lot of people who were completely clueless (not talking about you) but for me, its like a mud pit. Cheapens you.

I did not bring in religion, someone else did.

Also, most of the liberals are pseudo-seculars as BJP likes to call them, and would vote for the left or Congress easily. Most of the rage is from people who, if you push hard, reveal themselves to be BJP voters and call Muslims katua. Fact.

I have been here a long time, and the exact nature of my 'support' to Congress has been explained before.

Religion, region, caste, upbringing, everything has a lot to do with your personality. There is a concept called 'generalization' that you may not be familiar with. I was only using that. The same way I use it when I say people from Himachal are nice.

You are a delusional moron

You determined that so fast? It is called jumping to conclusions.

Note that I haven't yet accused you of being a Gujarat rioter. No jumping to conclusions, it comes with age you see. See, another generalization. Such is life.

I don't see that in the reddit charter. Are you saying every sentence anyone says in reddit are hard facts, undisputed and clear?

[–]wanderingmind 0 points1 point ago

That in fact is a valid point. Security checks are not where he would be attacked.

Unless there is a separate logic that people in high security categories should not stay visible in one place for long and should be moved along quickly. Maybe. I don't know.

No. I am saying, "whatever" and "it was all spontaneous" are all on the same scale.

The rest of it, of course, Chutiye, this does not even deserve a reply.

Whatever

Arun Shourie said something like that, so it makes sense. "Frankly I feel more for Vajpayee's sadness than for the victims of Gujarat etc. " (paraphrasing) So you are all in the same boat really.

Precisely why I don't like Modi. He is a whatever type of person when it comes to these things. Like you. Murdered anyone lately? If not, I am sure you are working towards a chance to.

We can't. Precisely my point. I don't think even Vajpayee or Advani would touch 'the family'
